My phone buzzed as I lay in bed staring at my ceiling. I carefully felt around my table, grabbing my phone, pulling it close to my face.

Incoming call from "bb jack💕"
ANSWER or DECLINE

I rolled my eyes at his name in my contacts as I sat up swiping to answer. My voice was groggy when I answered
"Hello?" I started, I would've said more but I wasn't feeling it today.
"Hey, bubba! How are you?!" Jack said loudly. I could hear his smile like honey and sunshine. I scrubbed my eyes with my pointer finger and thumb. I couldn't stop thinking about how the groupchat left off yesterday.
"I'm fine." I said. My foot was tingly from laying down wrong.
"Did you just wake up?!" He questioned. His voice was like raindrops and the smell of summer.
"No- well, yeah." I answered shrugging.
"Bubba! It's 11:00! You never sleep in. What's wrong?" He questioned. I could tell he was genuinely asking but I couldn't tell him.
"Nothing. It's okay. I'm just a bit exhausted. Why did you call?" I asked. I didn't know why I said that. He calls all the time just to say hi. I loved it. But I asked anyways.
"Well, actually I called because I was wondering if you wanted to hang out!" He stammered, he was hesitant but I could still tell he meant it.
"Um, yeah- I would like that. What time?" I asked smiling to myself. My stomach flipped hearing his words.
"How does 2:00 sound?!" He suggested excitedly. His voice was like the beach and the waves. I giggled a little thinking about seeing him,
"Amazing." I spoke. My mood rose as the butterflies in my stomach became more intense.
"Yeah! You can meet my girlfriend!" My heart sunk. His words were like bee venom and thorns. The hairs on my arms made me feel uncomfortable from the goosebumps rising.
"Uhm- yeah. I - I mean sure." I stuttered "sounds oka-okay that would be great." I finished. I cringed thinking of what his face would be like at my awkward response.
"Are- are-are y-you sure about that?" He mimicked me in a goofy voice laughing hysterically.
"Yes. Shut up" I pronounced. I smiled a little as the silence took over.
"Well I gotta go-" I started
"Yeah. Me too. I'm meeting Ellie at the mall. I'll text you where we can hang out." He said, his voice was sharp like a knife. My eyes hurt as I managed to say one last thing
"Bye."
"B-" I hung up, cutting him off. My stomach ached as I placed my phone on my bedside table. I brought my knees to my chest and placed my forehead on them. I wasn't looking forward to this outing.

2 hours later

It was almost time to get ready to see Jack. I didn't honestly care what I looked like. I wasn't trying to impress anyone. My striped white and black shirt was hanging far below my waist. My black pants were worn in every place and my hair wasn't done. But it was okay. Jack had a girlfriend and I honestly don't care what she thinks of me. My heart beat faster as my phone went off-

My eyes were stinging as I wiped at them bringing myself to the window. I watched as a small car drove into my driveway with a girl driving. I didn't know how the hell Ellie could drive yet considering the fact that she's Jack's age but I shrugged it off. Maybe it wasn't even her. I walked to the door swinging it open, sticking my hand in my pocket making sure my money was there. I nodded as I rushed out to the car. I walked to the door and smiled.
"Hello there! You must be Finn!" The lady driving said. She looked older.
"Hi." I said my voice shook a little and I looked at the back of the car. The window rolled down as I saw Jack sitting in a seat next to a really pretty girl. My stomach dropped as I swallowed harshly.
"Hey, bubba!" Jack said smiling "this is Ellie, and that's her mom" he said looking at his girlfriend and then pointing at the woman up front. Ellie grinned then waved at me.
"Hey" I said smiling at her.
"Uhm, Finn sweetie. You can sit up here with me." Ellie's mom said. I felt my cheeks burn as I opened the door and pushed myself in.
"Baby stop tickling me!" I hear Ellie whisper loudly,
"I can't help it! You're so cute!" Jack said giggling. My throat hurt as I itched at my arm. My eyes stung as I looked out the window.
"Awe I love you" Ellie squealed
"I love you more" Jack said.
"So, love. What's up with you? Do you have a girlfriend?" Ellie's mom asked glancing at me.
"Uhm, no. I'll never have a girlfriend" I said. I couldn't help but smile a bit.
"Awe, I bet you will! You just have to find the right girl." She said. I tried to hide my smile as I looked at her as serious as I could.
"Yeah. Maybe." I said looking back down at my hands and then to the window. She grinned turning on the music. I awkwardly sat in the seat next to a woman I didn't know in front of my best friend and a girl I didn't know. It was weird. I wanted to be next to Jack. I wanted to feel the warmth of his smile when he looks at me. But Ellie had that. I hate being jealous. I mean, I'm not jealous. I'm just- I just miss Jack. I felt a tug at one of my curls as I swatted away the hand. I giggled looking back to see Jack only to find out it was Ellie. My smile dropped a little,
"I like your curly hair." She said grinning. I smiled a bit and looked at Jack who was staring out the window.
"Jack has curly hair too." I said my cheeks flushed as Jack turned to me.
"Really?! I didn't know" he said grinning sarcastically. My neck started hurting so I turned back around in my seat.
"I love your curly hair." I heard Ellie say. Jack laughed quietly as I closed my eyes hoping for this day to end.
