Alexander's POV
A week has passed, we got enrolled and here we are, at the rift, preparing to go. The Schuylers were here, silently crying at the side, wiping every tear that came out if their eyes.

"Son," I heard George call. "Remember, you are not your step-brother, you are deeply effected by sunlight, never take off your hood outside. Clear?"

"Yes." I replied, taking my bags and following Laf.

"Be safe!" The Schuylers say in unison, both me and Laf looked back and smiled at them before going through the rift.

I felt a familiar burning sensation on my hand, so I quickly shoved it in my pocket, while the other had a glove on it, carrying my bag. "Let's go Alexander." Laf said, leading the way. He seemed to know where he was going, figures, dad must've shown him the way before we departed.

I started to slow down my pace, feeling as if anybody will shoot at any moment. I felt Laf's grasp on my wrist and quickly pulled me beside him. "Do not vwalk so far behind Alexander, I can not affort to lose you in ze crowd, you are not zhat tall after all." He teased me. I punched his shoulder lightly as we reached the gates of 'Columbia University', the place I've been trying to avoid.

Yeah, I was trying to avoid this school. I may have snuck out once during nightfall into this realm, hoping to learn more about humans, and what I did learn, is quite obvious. They were aware of vampires around their radius, meaning they're very alert, though, that's all I learned and enough of it led me to stay away from this place.

I guess, I can't do that.

As we enter the gates, two humans approached us. One was taller than Laf by a few inches, he was buff a dark-skinned, he also wore a beanie on his head. The second one was shorter, but he still towers over me a bit. He had curly brown hair and olive green eyes, he wore a green shirt with a turtle on it, his face was also dotted with freckles. I hid behind Laf as he patted my head and looked over the people infront of us. "Bonjour me amies, je m'appelle Marquis de Lafayette zis is mon petit beau-frère, Alexander Hamilton." Laf introduced both, giving notice to my social insecurities.

"Nice to meet you." Said the buff one, reaching a hand to Laf, which he gladly shook. "The name's Hercules Mulligan, and this is my best pal John Laurens." He introduced.

"We'll be showing you around, you're both foreign exchange students, correct?" Asked the freckled one, which is John.

"You could say that." I muttered, barely enough for the other two to hear but just loud enough for Laf.

"Yes. I'm from France, Alexander iz from ze Carribean." Laf clarified. When he said 'Carribean', my thoughts quickly shifted to my real mom and dad. Tears quickly filled my eyes as I shed them away, Laf noticed this and gave me a handkerchief.

"Is the little guy alright?" Asked Hercules.

"Oui, he just gets sensitive over ze topic." Laf explained.

"And why is he wrapped up like a burrito?" John added.

"Ah, you see, ze boy has very sensitive skin. He cannot be exposed to sunlight, or else allergies occur. Best not to damage ze already broken boy." Laf is amazing at lieing. We didn't even discuss of how he'll defend my disability, no wonder he's so willing to do this.

"Alright then." John said, satisfied with our answer -well, Laf's answer- and ushered us inside. "We'll bring you to the principal's office first, so you could get your schedules and dorm rooms."

Hercules opened the door of the principal and gestured for us to go in. "Uh, can ze Alexander stay here vwith you?" Laf asked, the hell are you doing?!

"Sure, no problem." Hercules said.

I went over to Laf and whispered: "Are you crazy?!"

"Mon frère, I vwill go in and get our schedules. You stay here and try to be friends vwith zhem. Zhey seem to be nice people." He instructed me quietly. "Ask zheir opinion about vampires, if zhey zon't like zhem, zhen vwe'll find ozher people."

I nodded as he went in the room, shutting the door closed. I turned to the two humans behind me and gulped. "Hey, don't be scared, we're not gonna hurt you or beat you up while your brother is in that room." Said John, sure that's what you say now, just wait 'till you find out I'm a freaking vampire.

He noticed my uncertainty, which is the biggest mistake I have ever done in my my whole life.

He walked over to me and clasped a hand on my shoulder, his eyes seem to give off the look of concern and reassurance, a look only George, Lafayette and the Schuylers dare to give me. Weird though, it actually made me a bit more calm than I was. What's going on? He's a human, why am I letting my guard down?! "Hey," He said softly, as if I would break like glass if he made his voice louder. "I mean it. We're really not going to hurt you."

And that's where I lost all my self-control of my fear and gut. I actually trusted the guy. Damn him and his soft angel-like voice. He smiled and pulled his hand back to himself, leaving me standing there. To my surprise, I actually smile back. OMG Alexander, stop being dumb!

"Do you think ALL vampires are... Dangerous?" I asked out suddenly, way to lay it down gently Alex, real smooth. "I mean, you don't have to answer me if you don't want to. I just wanted to know your opinion on them and-"

"No." They say in unison, making me stop and look at them wide eyes.

"Really?" I asked in disbelief. "You don't think vampires will suck your blood at any given moment?"

"We don't." John answered. I looked for any tinge of lie in his tone, or any regret in his eyes yet, I found none. "We actually want to know more about them."

"Why?" I asked.

"We always ask ourselves, why are they hunting them down? I mean, they might have families too right? What if the hunters are taking them away from their own kind? Breaking hearts of more than just one soul?" John trailed on. Tears filled my eyes.He understands, THEY understand! There are some humans who cared about us! "What about you?" He asked, patiently waiting for an answer from me.

"I'm positive that vampires are not as bad as they seem." Here goes nothing. Come on Alex, use that big brain of yours to cover up that you're a vampire as best as possible. "I bet some are actually protecting humans from the violent types, the types that will suck your blood. I don't think vampires are any different from humans, they have families and friends who care aboutb them too, not because they're considered as monsters of society mean that they don't have feelings or emotion at all."

"Kid, has the same beliefs as you, then we'll have no problem getting along." Hercules stated, putting a hand on my shoulder. I gave him a smile, as a sign of my approval.

"Trust me, he's the one who taught me all I know."

As if on cue, Laf came out of the principal's office with papers in his hands. He noticed my smile and smiled back at the sight. "I'm assuming zhat Alexander has told you his beliefs?" He asked, Hercules and John nodding in response. "Consider yourself lucky, Alexander rarely opens up to anyone." You forced me to you little bitch.

"Why?" Hercules asked.

"He doesn't like talking to anyone, except for me, our father and ze literal three friends we have."

John and Hercules nodded and each took a schedule from Laf. "Alright, you're both roommates with me and Herc at dorm 1776." Said John as he skimmed through the papers. "Classes doesn't start for another week, let's get both of you settled in."

We nodded and followed Hercules and John through the crowded hallways. Students mostly tackled each other and laughed, others pushed up students against the lockers, and others are couples, making out in public. I pulled my hood up more, trying to stay concealed.

I saw someone giving John a glare, to which John glared back at. He took my wrist and pulled me beside him, Hercules doing the same for Laf. I gave him a weird look, confusion, if you may. "That guy is Charles Lee, most hated asshole in school. He's pretty popular around here since he sides with Jefferson, the Student Council President. If you ever so see that guy, or maybe a guy with a huge afro, don't hesitate to run away from them." He replied to me.

I nodded and just kept following them.
