Alexander's POV
I sat on the bathroom sink as John searches the bathroom for the first aid kit in the medicine cabinet. "Who did this to both of you?" He asked, not looking at me."Oh you know, Jefferson, Reynolds, Lee and King." I bluntly replied, wincing when I accidentally touched the side of my cheek. John groaned and finally took the first aid kit and opened it. He took out a towel in there and wrapped an ice pack with it before giving it to me. I held it against my cheek gently while he removed the dirt on my face.
I swear, if I move just slightly, our lips will connect. He's not making eye contact with me, but it's still enough to make me blush faintly. He let out a soft sigh before pulling away and washing the other towel he used. "So..." He started, putting the kit back in the cabinet, then leaning on the wall beside me. "Want to maybe talk about... this?" He asked, gesturing to my whole body.
I can't believe I'm trusting him this easily. It's usually not after a month or two I get to trust new people, believe me, I put the Schuylers through hell before I even trusted them. But what is it with you John? What is it that you have that the others don't that makes me trust you so easily? I sighed and just bowed my head down. "We're here on a mission." I muttered. I don't know why I was even waiting for some kind of hurtful comment or maybe even a slap, it's not like he's into those hunting vampires crap.
"What mission?" He asked, looking over.
"Well, you know Mrs. Washington right? I didn't tell you this before but, she's my step-mother." I cleared up. "She doesn't know me and Laf are her step-sons and she doesn't know the real reason why her husband left her."
"So you mean, she doesn't know she married a vampire?"
"Oh she does, and she loves him still... they write letters to each other frequently. Though, she doesn't know that her husband is the actual leader of our kind. The only thing she knows is that he needed to stay in his realm to join in on protecting the vampires, that's it."
"Why didn't he tell her then."
"I bet he's afraid that if he did tell her, she'd be in more of a predicament."
"Oh..." He stopped, looking down on the floor. "Then why are you here? Shouldn't you be back in your realm to help protect it?"
"That's just it... We're here to find humans who actually believes not all vampires are mean and cruel."
"So that's what Lafayette and Hercules meant."
"What do you mean?"
"The Eastern and Western vampires... I don't know much as they do, but maybe you can clarify it for me?"
"If you really want to." I paused, taking the ice pack away from my right cheek to put it on my left. "Western vampires are the blood suckers, they don't care about anything except for themselves and their families. The Eastern vampires, like me and Laf, are the peace seekers. Peace between humans and vampires, that's all we want."
"Okay, so let me ask this... How do you keep those Western vamps away from the human realm."
"There is only one rift that divides the two realms. Luckily it's in the East, where we keep it guarded."
"Then, how do you explain the news here that people are getting killed by vampires, if you keep it guarded."
"Well, because the Eastern vampires are the protectors of the rift and since humans seem to be always going through, they kill the innocent vampires who try to protect them. The decrease in numbers of Eastern vampires became a very severe warning for humans, the guards who keeps the Western vampires away from the rift died. How did the Western get in, you may ask? Easy, they have this special kind of ability to take in energy of other vampires only. They make the guards who protects the wall separating the West and East and go from there. They don't stay out too long in this realm, we don't know why."
