Chapter 3
Jayden
I sit up in my bed, it's around eleven in the morning. I look around my room, noticing Finn awake on the mattress. I mentally groan, remembering how he ruined my time with Ethan. His eyelids flutter open, revealing his bright blue orbs. He smiles, resting his elbow under his chin so he can look up at me.
"Good morning Denny," he smiles, before wiping his eyes. He slides on his glasses, then runs his fingers through his hair.
"Ew, I hate that nickname," I laugh, sitting up fully.
"I like it," he shrugs, picking up his phone. Turning it on, he checks the time.
"How is it already eleven?" he sighs, standing on his feet. I frown in confusion, watching him put his jacket on.
"You have somewhere to be?" I question, standing up.
"Yeah, my dad's supposed to be teaching me more stuff down at the station," he explains.
"Ah, yes. Soon-to-be Sheriff Finn still needs his fathers help," I tease, smiling at him.
"Jayden," he says softly, "he has lung cancer."
"What? Since when?" I rush over to him. My gut immediately turns, I feel so bad.
"He was diagnosed three days ago," he says, looking down.
"Finn, I'm so sorry," I tell him, honestly. He shrugs, pressing his lips together firmly.
"What can you do?" he rhetorically asks. I hug him, tightly. Of course, he hugs back.
"Tell him I said hi?" I ask, pulling away.
"Anything for you Denny," he smiles. I push his shoulder slightly.
"C'mon, I'll walk you out," I say, gesturing toward the staircase.

-I exhale loudly, causing a strand of freshly curled hair to swing up. It falls back towards my face onto my lips, which are coated in lipstick.
"Far out," I say, pulling it off. I drag the strand of hair in between my fingers, getting the lipstick out. I then swing my back over my shoulder, opening the front door.
Everyone is sleeping so I left a note on the table.
I unlock my car, using my keys as I walk down the driveway. I get into the car, sitting on the leather car seat. I slam the door shut, dropping my head back onto the cushion.
"This morning is going terrible," I complain, lazily putting the key in ignition.
I pull down the mirror on the roof of the car, observing my face. There is a few pimples, but my acne used to be really bad so I don't mind.
"Another meeting we go," I tell myself, reversing out onto the road. I decide to leave the radio on, since I'm probably already late.
I drive off, making my way to Ethan's apartment.

"Hey!" I smile, as the door swings open. Ethan stands there, wearing a blue jumper and black shorts. With black Vans to match."Hey Jay!" Grayson calls out from behind him.
"Jay?" Ethan and I question in sync.
"Yeah. Ethan came up with it this morning -" Grayson tries to explain but Ethan covers his mouth. I laugh quietly, covering a side of my face with one hand.
"He's, uh, lying," Ethan says, pushing Grayson away before stepping outside.
"Bye Gray!" I wave, as Ethan closes the door.
"Hey," he breathes out, "whose car?"
"I don't mind," I shrug, he pulls his car keys out of his pocket.
"Mine it is," he chuckles. I follow him to his truck, walking over to the passenger side. We both open the doors, sliding in.
"What's the plan for today?" I ask, dropping my backpack onto the floor.
"I feel like we should get to know each other," he simply says, backing out of car park.
"Right. So do I," I reply, looking out the window.
"But, there's a catch," he looks at me before turning onto a busy road.
"That is?" I ask, diverting my eyes from the cars driving next to us to him.
"We're going to be in public," he says, running his fingers through his curls.
"And?" I question, not understanding why that matters.
"There's a possibility that fans may see us or me," he starts off. He lets out a loud sigh.
"Sometimes they don't understand that I am just a normal dude wanting to go to the store or see a movie. Don't get me wrong, I love meeting them. I just, can't do so many things at once," he glances at me, before looking at the road.
"I get where you're coming from," I say, not moving my eyes off him.
"Yeah, I just want to spend time with you but I feel like one or more fan will approach us."
"I want to as well, but I understand that they are your fans so don't feel bad for taking photos with them or anything," I say kindly, watch him relax a little.
"Thanks Jay, do you want me to call you that? Because I can call you your full name if-" he asks but I cut him off.
"Jay is fine, Eth?" I question, smiling slightly.
"Eth it is," he chuckles, pulling into another car park. He leans his ear closer to the speaker, trying to listen to the song.
I reach over and turn the volume up, scaring him.
"Holy-" he cuts himself off. I laugh, along with him.
"Hey, I actually know this song," I say, bopping my head to it.
"Really? It's on a playlist Grayson and I put together on Spotify," he looks to me, laughing as he realises me dancing.
"I don't need you, I'm doing just fine," we both sing, probably badly.
"I said-" plays then we both go full out. Our hands whack against each other's, causing us to both groan in pain.
"I'm so sorry!" he laughs, over the music.
"No, I'm sorry," I laugh, gripping my hand tightly.
"Alright, let's go," he says, turning the car off.
We walk down the sidewalk, passing all these shops. I notice an abandoned dance studio, remembering how I quit dancing last year.
"Wanna go in?" Ethan asks, noticing barely anyone's on the foot path.
"It's probably locked," I say, trying to avoid it. He walks over to it, pushing the glass door open. My jaw drops.
Ethan walks in, turning his head around slightly. "You coming?"
I bite my lip, before running into the studio. Ethan closes the door, before we both run into another room.
He closes that door, as I admire the room. Mirrors were placed on every wall, with a white ceiling, and oak wooden floors.
"Ethan," I say, tapping his arm repeatedly.
"What?" he asks, turning his head in my direction.
"Someone left their speaker here," I answer, walking over to it.
"Let's have a dance battle," he smirks, beginning to stretch.
"Oh really? Might want to wipe that smirk off your face baby boy because I've been dancing for years," I tease, plugging my phone into the aux cord that's connected to the speaker.
"Show me what you've got."
