CHAPTER 3

DESIRE'S POV

knock knock knock

i groan getting up to get the door as me and ma were watching our favorite movie Ride along 2, just got done watching the first one. I open the door seeing two soldiers standing there. One was Tay's dad the other was someone I didn't know. My eyes start to water and I start balling dropping to my knees and I feel arms wrap around me " I'm so sorry" I feel tears against my neck "NO NO NO NO NO" I Start kicking pushing Ma off me and took off running away from house, all the memories held inside there I knew I couldn't handle. I keep running until their voices become distant and I stop noticing i'm at the old park Ma, Mom and I would always go to but stopped when she went into the military. I sit down in the little flower patch we made and hid so nobody touched it. I cry and cry then feel arms around my waist I jump and turn around

"M-Mommy?" she opens her arms and I run into them crying into her chest

"Thank you Mi amor for never giving up or losing hope but you have to now."

I shake my head quickly hitting her chest "no no NO I WONT MOM please dont make me do this." I sob harder choking on air. Holding me tighter she shushed me patting my back "calm down for me"

"DESIRE" I turn seeing my Ma and the soldiers running towards me I turn seeing my mom walking away.

"MOMMY DONT LEAVE AGAIN"

"DES GET UP" Ma voice is starting to sound like lash's

"BABY GET UP ITS JUST A DREAM" Ma starts shaking me violently

huh? now she sounds like Alex

"please get up" is she crying? why is she crying?

I feel something wet on me and jump hitting my head on something coughing harshly wiping my face crying harder. I was pulled into someone's chest and inhale their scent slowly calming down nuzzling my face deeper into their chest. I feel the vibrations against their chest meaning they chuckled.

"uh I don't think a teacher and student are supposed to be cuddled up like that." I hear Alex voice behind me. Wait this ain't Alex wait TEACHER AND STUDENT? I jerk back looking up seeing Mrs. N blushing looking down.

"well since I've done my job i'll see you tomorrow Desire you don't have to go to detention anymore." she nods a little and turn to walk away but I grab her wrist causing her to look at me.

"yes?"

I open my mouth flinching once my voice come out scratchy and raspy " T-thank you For waking me." she nods again pointing to Alex "she did most of the work but no problem." She tugs her wrist out my hold walking out closing the door softly.

I look at lash and she wiggling her eyebrows and tongue behind alex and i roll my eyes

"well i'll let you lovebirds talk it out byeee" she comes and kiss my cheek skipping out.

Then looks at Alex "w-what h-appened?"

She sighs sadly grabbing both our bags and I look around noticing we're in the nurse's office and slowly getting down from the uncomfortable exam table.

she wraps her arm around my waist but I move away. "calm down I just had a bad dream I ain't crippled."

she rolls her eyes smacking her lips "nigga you for sure looked like it, apparently you were sleep walking with some girl next to you and then started screaming for your mom and dropped to the floor. Dom was able to catch you before you fell."
