There during a calming atmosphere in the living room, where any sign of tension was erased from existence.
Soft snores and the fan whirring in the background was the only noises within the quiet moonlit room. Everyone had fallen asleep during the movie, except for me. I wasn't sure why I was still awake, the movie had finished about two hours ago and the takeout I ordered for both Laurens and Chloe was now gone leaving it's crumbs behind. Silently sensing that there was no more activity, the TV turned off automatically.
A sigh slipped out as I carefully rolled on my side on the couch and looked down at the two who slept soundly on the rug. Laurens' head was leaning against the cushions of the couch while Chloe's leaned against his shoulder, it was a cute sight. I should've brought my phone with me. I focused my attention on Laurens' face, studying his appearance. His breaths were slow and shallow, and his facial features were much softer in when asleep than when he's awake. The lines that would appear on his face was replaced by the youthful, peaceful appearance.
I softly smile turning onto my back, staring at the white ceiling for less than a minute before sitting up. My eyes shifted from the ceiling to the clock which ticked slowly towards eleven p.m. as if mocking my growing panic. "Shit!" I gasped as I scrambled off the couch which made me fell over the backrest of the couch causing a loud thud thus waking the two who were soundly sleeping.
"What the fuck?" Chloe mumbled, still half-asleep. I groaned in pain from the impact on the fall before scrambling up. "Chloe!" I shrieked, "Hide John, in my room upstairs now!" I barked out, "Please?" I quickly added. Chloe turned around to me with a questioning look in a slight daze. "(S/N) is coming home, around this time!" I said pointing my fingers at the direction of the clock on the wall. She 'oohed' in understanding, she gently shook him awake, he groaned in response and slid down from the couch, fully laying on the floor. He rolled over onto his side with his eyes shut closed.
"John!" Chloe yelled as she looked at him, "Five more minutes, Alex." He said in a slightly raspy voice. I looked at her with a raised eyebrow, wondering what she was going to do now. She looked back at me and her tired and slightly annoyed look turned into a mischievous one. "Oh god no," I begged as I realized what she was planning, "It's almost midnight, Chloe!". She reached tauntingly into the pocket of the narwhal onesie she had borrowed from me, and with the exact same slow, agonizing pace, she pulled out the dreadful invention, the air horn. Under my breath, I muttered, "I hate you.". "We both know that's not true." was Chloe's response right before she blasted the airhorn. John immediately shot up, "I-I'm awake!" He shouted, clearly startled.
I glared at her, "Laurens, sorry about that." I spoked moving towards him and putting a hand on his shoulder. "Um, can you do me a favor now that you're awake?" I asked as I heard a car driving into the garage. "Great!" I took his larger and calloused hands into mine, not waiting for an answer, I pulled and led him up the stairs into my bedroom. "Just, like, stay there for now? My sister will freak if she found you, so you could continue sleeping?" I said but it sounded more like a question, growing a bit more nervous as I heard the familiar noise of the keys jingling from outside the house.
Normally I felt giddy when I heard it, being happy to see my sister, but at this moment I felt the exact opposite.
"Okay whatever you do, don't make any noise and don't go out the room. You can read my books or something, just don't do those two things." I warned as I backed up to the door and quickly left and closed the door.
I raced down the stairs, "Oh hey there, sis... Didn't see you there. Ha. Ha, ha.." I awkwardly greet the girl leaning on the entrance door. "Hello, (N/N). I see you invited Chloe again..." My sister trailed off glancing at Chloe who pouted and crossed her arms, "Hey! Don't say that like that, I know you love me!" Chloe said as she lounged on the couch, swinging her leg over the couch's arm. (S/N) rolled her eyes as she took off her coat and laid it on the arm of the chair that was next to Chloe's leg as she walked further into the house.
