"It's pronounced goolf you 'effing idiot!"

The class broke out into loud laughter before becoming quiet over the warning glare the teacher gave to us despite the small grin on her face. Our teacher was a strict woman when it came to teaching children, though that didn't mean she couldn't crack a few jokes now and then. Somehow we had gotten her distracted from her teaching a history lesson about but suddenly getting on the topic of how to correctly pronounce 'gulf' and 'golf'.

"Okay, okay, children. Settle down now." The teacher finally spoke as the class calmed down themselves after the giggle fest they had.

I slouched in my seat with my hand supporting my head on the desk. Normally, I would catch myself doing it and straighten up immediately, pushing my shoulders back and the small of my back upwards and in, sitting taller, since I knew if I didn't the teacher would know and immediately put me in the spotlight by asking me a question she knew I wouldn't know but now I didn't care about it now. Maybe it was because of the lack of sleep? Or if I was just in one of those lazier moods of mine. I wasn't sure of it nor was I worried about it either.

I stared at the outside world that was separated by the window two seats away from me. The figures next to me were blurred out, my attention was focused on the silhouettes of the birds who rushed home to their defenseless children waiting at their parents' nest. The morning sky that was decorated with clouds was long gone. The cold blue sky was now sun-kissed, the empty and wispy clouds were now swollen with snow as they slowly and threateningly glided across the sky. A snowstorm was coming and hopefully, I wouldn't be the one stuck in it. Whether it be from traffic or from class ending later than it should've.

My eyes left the window shifting my attention to the two empty desks that sat directly in front of the teacher's desk, my eyes narrowed in concentration as I felt the space between my eyes wrinkle as my lips pursed slightly. Now that I think about it, neither Chloe or my other friend, Amber, had been present today. Maybe they knew about the storm and decided not to come or maybe they're sick?

My thoughts were abruptly interrupted as the chairs rumbled around me while I heard my teacher's voice boom over the racket my peers made while the bell rung signaling that it was dismissal time. A sigh of relief escaped my chapped lips as I processed what happened. I stood up and gathered my things before throwing my bag over my shoulder before venturing out into the hallway. I scurried through the crowd of sweaty students to reach my locker. I emptied it out quickly, leaving the things not really needed. It was no need for the dead weight. I closed my locker, as I turned around I was met by a familiar face. They gave me an ear-to-ear grin as the looked at me. It was one of my friends, (F/N).

"Hi," I said unsure about the grin she gave me. "What's with the grin you got there?" I asked with a raised eyebrow as we walked side-by-side together down the hallway to the entrance. "Don't you know what day it is?" (F/N) asked as she held her books close to her chest. "Friday?" I guessed. She shook her head as she looked at me, and I looked at her. "Nope! It's 'Free Cakes and Treats' Day!" (F/N) chirped.

I mouthed, 'ohh', in realization. It was an event the boss held at the local bakery which where I and (F/N) worked at. During the event, the boss would hold a party for the workers in the bakery to relieve some stress off the employees when the bakery would be closed. At the party, the little kind-hearted lady, who was the boss of the establishment, would bake various of different types of sweets and sometimes treats for the ones who have pets and gave them all away for free. It was a fun party that lasted only for two hours.

"Anyway, see you there. I gotta go! The earlier I get to the bakery the more chance I get to help with baking!" She said as she ran out the school and disappeared into the crowds on the sidewalk of New York. I chuckled softly at her actions before finally walking out the school.
