The next day was a bit of a blur; I overslept and by the time I woke up, it was too late to go to school. As much as I loved staying off school, I hated being bored. So I text Calum, as I knew he dropped out of school from last night’s 21 Questions game.
He agreed to come and hang out with me to prevent me deteriorating from boredom. He came to my house and we spent the day watching films, eating, and cuddling. That’s all that did happen, a cuddle. I was hoping for at least a kiss, but no, nothing. I told Calum he would have to leave before my mum came home, to which he agreed because it’s a tad early to meet the parents yet. Fortunately, when the school asked for my mother’s phone number I gave them my own, so she would never when I haven’t bothered to go in. Hopefully, I don’t collapse one day in P.E because my mum would be unreachable.
It was half six and my mum would be home soon (Indi never called for me when I was off school, she always assumed I was ill or something). Upon realising this, Cal stood up and headed for the door. I followed; I was always taught it was polite to see your guests out. I open the door and gestured with my hand it was open. Calum then turned to me;
“I want to see you again, Isla Rose.” I usually hated people saying my middle name and was reluctant to even tell cal last night, I seriously considered making one up. A better, cooler middle name with more depth and mystery. Fortunately I did not, because; A) I'm not creative enough to think of a name on the spot, and B) I thought it best not staring a friendship on lies. However, despite my hatred for my own name, Calum made it sound cute. He made it sound deep and mysterious. It made me want to hear it more.
“You will!” I replied happily, if he wanted to see me again, then I certainly wanted to see him!! Could you believe it? A gorgeous, famous band member wants to see me again!!
“No, I mean, I want to see you again, today!” Calum explained enthusiastically. Confused, I asked him what he meant and explained waiting until tomorrow evening is simply too long. This surprised me; Cal didn’t seem the type to confess his feelings. Eventually, after spending a while bickering about where to meet, we decided on the field. The field is exactly half way between my house and Calum’s, and would only take about 15 minutes if I speed walk.
After deciding on the location, next came to the time this was also difficult to agree on. We knew we’d have to sneak out, and it has to be late enough for our parents to be sleeping, yet not late enough so we couldn’t see a thing. We decided on 11:17. Why? I don’t really know myself, it was Cal’s idea.
And with that, he left. He gave me a peck on the lips and stepped out the door. I closed the door and felt my stomach rumble. I am starving; my stomach probably thought my throat has been cut. I had snacked all day, but haven’t yet made a proper meal.
I strolled into the kitchen and looked in the fridge; nothing. I then went to the freezer in the garage and picked out a frozen pizza. I’m not in the mood for cooking so this will do. I stuck the pizza in the oven and walked back into the living room. My eyes were met with wrappers of junk food everywhere, messy cushions and blankets. I had to tidy up, this living room was meant to look like no one has stepped foot in it all day, never mind spent the whole day eating and lounging in there. Thank god I don’t wear a school uniform, otherwise I’d have to run and put that on. Wow, skipping school was stressful.
By the time I had finished tidying, my pizza was ready. I was just getting it out the oven when my mum walked in.
