Parker's POV:
So I didn't lie about the whole studying for finals thing, but I kind of wish I would've went to Bo's with the boys... Even if it meant facing Scotty. My stomach rumbled as I opened my laptop and logged into the NCSU website to pull up my notes.
"Parker!" I heard someone shout. I turned to see Scotty walking up the bus steps, "Oh there you are, listen we need to talk." He explained taking a seat next to me at the table.
"Not right now Scott. I'm trying to study." I answered placing my chin on my hands and staring at the computer screen. Scotty shut the computer and placed his hand on top of it.
"You can study later. This is important." He demanded keeping his hand on the laptop. I sighed and stared at the table. "Alright." I whispered not daring to meet his eyes. "Parker look. You told me how you feel and--"
"I know it was stupid, can we just forget it ever happened and move on!" I shouted as I felt tears form in my eyes.
"No! We are not letting it go!" He shouted back, "because I think I'm falling for you too!"
The room fell silent as a tear rolled down my cheek. I let the news sink in. Does he really like me? Or is he just saying that to make me feel better about myself?
"Parker look at me." He begged. I shook my head and took a deep breath. Scotty placed his hand on mine and turned my cheek gently with the other. That's when my eyes met his blue ones. We sat like that for a few minutes, as if our eyes were doing the talking.
"Do you mean it?" I asked biting my lip. He looked surprised that I actually said something and smiled. "I do. I know it's crazy, but these past couple of days, I have fallen for you more than ever. I have noticed everything about you, from the way you push your hair back wen your nervous, to the way the light shines off of you on the stage. I swear whenever we play the show you are the star not me." He smiled as I felt my own smile forming.
"I--" I started but Scotty held up a finger.
"Hold that thought and follow me!" He demanded grabbing my hand and pulling me with him. "Where are we going?" I asked.
"You'll see."
Scotty's POV:
I am so glad I got that off my chest, and I can't wait to take Parker where I have been planning to take her this whole time. I helped her into my truck, and drove to the lake.
"A lake?" She asked looking at me confused.
"Yes ma'am! You always said you wanted me to take you fishing sometime, just like you did with your dad. So I figured why not right now." I explained watching her eyes light up. We made our way to the lake where I helped her into a small row boat that held our fishing rods.
"How convenient." She smiled when she saw me pulling out the rods. I grinned as I picked up an oar. "You could say I had this planned.." I winked and headed out to the middle of the lake. When we were there, I stopped the boat and handed Parker a rod.
"Scotty?" She asked as I baited our hooks. "Yeah?" "Can you come sit by me?" She almost begged. She didn't have to tell me twice. I quickly sat down next to her as we casted our lines. We sat quietly for a few minutes as the crickets sounded around us.
"This is nice." She said so quietly it was almost a whisper. I smile and placed my arm around her. "Yes, yes it is." I replied adjusting my hat on my head. Parker watched me, and when I moved my hand, she removed my hat and placed it on her head.
"How do I look?" She asked striking a pose like a model. I chuckled at the sight. "You look like a million bucks." She smiled and then turned to look at our lines.
"Scotty look!" She shouted pointing to her rod which was being pulled by something large. "Reel it in!" I shouted as we both hopped to our feet. She quickly began reeling it, but was struggling as it got closer.
"Here let me help!" I exclaimed taking the rod from her hands and reeling it the rest of the way in.
"OMG! It's huge!" She exclaimed looking at the big bass that we caught.
"It sure is!" I smiled as she gave me a hug in excitement. "Thank you for helping me!" I froze and wrapped my arms around her as we stood there as if time stood still. She slowly lifted her head from my chest and stared into my eyes. Now is the perfect time.
"Parker, I know our friendship is strong, but I don't want to be just your friend. I want to be more than that. I promise that I will never hurt you, or ever leave you. But I can't imagine never calling you mine. Parker Bright, will you be my girlfriend?" I asked.
I could feel my heart beating louder in my chest with each word, and as the seconds ticked by, I thought I was going to have a heart attack.
"Of course." She replied pulling me closer for another hug. I smiled and leaned down to her height, and lifted her chin. Our lips connected, and I felt electricity shoot through my body. It lasted only a few seconds, but that was all it took to have me hooked. "Wow." She whispered looking me in the eyes. My heart was pounding in my chest, and I could still feel the warmth of her lips on mine. I have never felt this way before.
"There's just one more thing." I whispered pushing a strand of hair from her face. "And what might that be?" She asked looking a little worried.
"I need to check with my best friend to see if she approves."
