CHAPTER 5
The Shoes We Never Walked In

_________________________________________

Blaire's POV

Kuya and I arrived early as usual in Bel Monte Academy. A number of girls were already waiting by the main building entrance just to get a glance at him.

I let out a breath at the sight from my window and looked at my brother, who was humming a song as he listened to the music from the car's radio.

"If I post a stolen picture of you at home, would they have a different view of you?" I asked, and he looked at me with both of his eyebrows raised. He acted as if he was thinking about it and then answered.

"Obviously... not." He said and went back to humming.

I looked at my brother with disgust.

"How narcissistic!" I commented, and he looked at me with a little shock on his face, but it didn't last for long because a few seconds later, he started grinning from ear to ear.

"I'm not. I'm just being honest. Seriously, if I come to school without bathing for three consecutive days, they wouldn't even mind or notice." He answered with utmost confidence. I never thought my brother had this disagreeable side of him.

"How so?" I scoffed, and he smiled.

"Because their attention are fixated only on my face." He answered with so much arrogance. The car was in front of the main building, and my brother immediately went out of the car.

"I can't believe you're my brother." I said after getting out of the car, which he only replied with a silent laugh.

"Anyway, I have to go now. I'll see you around." He said as he patted my head before rushing off towards the main building.

"Alright, kuya. I'll go ahead na din. See you!"

I bid him goodbye and went to the main building. I immediately went to the classroom but did not see my friends anywhere. The students were all busy chattering, especially the ladies, while the boys were all focused on playing games with their phones. I walked towards a female student who didn't seem too busy. She was fixing her hair when I approached her.

"Hi, Therys. Sorry for bothering you, but have you seen Havie, Gabbie, and Tenor?" I asked, to which she raised her brows while her hands were busy doing her hair.

"Not sure about that, but I heard them talking about you and cleaning your name, and then they also mentioned the Dean. Well, only if I heard them right." She said.

I thanked her and hurried to the Dean's office. If my instincts serve me right, my friends might be in the Dean's Office doing something very rash.

The moment I got near the door of the Dean's Office, I immediately heard Havie's voice, which stopped me from knocking and opening the door.

"Sir, you have to believe us, Zchennaya is innocent!"

"Miss Fransisco, I know where you are coming from, but--"

"But sir! You have to believe us! It just doesn't make sense, don't you think? The fact that Zchennie has been with us the whole time yesterday already suggests it's impossible!" Gabbie interrupted the Dean.

"Miss Garcia, if only you would listen -"

"Sir! You are the one who should listen! The only evidence that points Zchennaya guilty is the flask. No cctv camera footage can prove, though, that she actually violated the rules. Also, if you would only check the cctv cameras to see who planted the flask on her, which we are sure someone did, you'll find out--" Tenor insisted.
