Chapter 3: Assassins
Matthew returned to his home with the head of the creature in his hand, still dripping with blood. The house was extremely old, falling apart, rusting and the paint was faded as well as chipping off. As he stood in front of the door, he threw the head on a pile of bloody body parts that came from many of the creatures that have stepped on his land. The door let out a loud creak as he slowly pushed it open revealing the contents of his living space. It looked even worse inside the house than out. There were rotting wholes in the wooden floors, broken plates everywhere and it was infested with rats, cockroaches as well as numerous other infestations but he didn't seem to care. He slowly stalked in and pulled out the only chair in his house. With a deep sigh he sat down and rested his feet on the table in front of him. An eerie silence engulfed the room and only his steady breathing cold be heard.
Splinters were sent flying as a blood red sword cut through the chair, but Matthew was no longer on it. "Well done, you almost hit me. You're fast but not fast enough. So I'm only going to ask you once if you would kindly leave the premises." The sword was pulled back up and held in an attacking position. Then a white smile presented itself behind red lips and a female voice filled the room. "Who ever said I was kind?" another thrust of her sword was given, but again the attempt was in vein. With a clang, her sword collided with one of Matthew's that he had pulled from his back. An amulet dangling from her neck caught his attention. It was solid gold and had an insignia engraved on it. The insignia consisted of the letters B and H with a drop of blood hanging off the bottom right corner of the H. He then took a look at the sword and was amazed at what he saw. The entire blade was made completely out of blood and ever so regularly a drop fell to the ground but then rose back up and latched onto the blade once again.
Matthew then pushed her off sending her a few steps back and then holstered his sword away. "Ah, so I see you're an assassin." he said grinning slightly. "What?! How did you know about that?" "It's that amulet around your neck that gave you away. You're one of the Blood Hounds, am I right? I thought that the Blood Hounds died out years ago." "No, as you can see some of us still live." The sword then began to drip faster with out the blood returning, until the sword was nothing more than a puddle of blood. Matthew approached her until they were only inches away from each other. "So being an assassin and all, someone must have sent you here. Who wants me dead?" "Seeing that you know so much about my trait, you should know that I can't tell you that." He chuckled and smiled at her, "Well then can I at least know the name of the one who is about to kill me?" "Sure honey, the name's Moon."

After stating her name, Moon pulled out a dagger she had hidden on her waist and stabbed Matthew on the side of his neck. He looked down on the dagger protruding from his neck, then back up at Moon and spoke in a sarcastic tone of voice. "Oh no it hurts so bad, I swear I am going to die! This is the end! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! No wait, it doesn't even hurt." He pulled the dagger out of his neck and dropped it on the ground. "Now if you're done wasting my time I would appreciate it if you leave." "He told me that normal weapons won't have any effect on you." Matthew frowned at the statement, "If he knew that, then how did he expect for you to kill me?" "He gave us a special dagger..." "Wait a second, us?" then all of a sudden he was sent flying through the wall with great force. He quickly got back up to his feet and looked back in the house to see what had hit him. Next to Moon stood another girl with fists clenched. "Oh yeah, did I forget to mention my partner? This is Caroline."

"So a man sends to girls to kill me? What kind of loser could think that up? Oh well, I don't like your odds right now." He pulled out his swords and prepared to fight. Moon then pulled the puddle of blood back off the floor and formed her blood sword once again. "Don't think just because we're girls we can't fight." "Oh no, it's not because you're girls." He then teleported behind them with his blades to their throats. "It's because you're fighting against me. Now if you don't mind I'll have that dagger your employer gave you." Caroline reached for the dagger on her waist. As she grabbed it she pulled away from Matthew's grip and shoved the blade towards him. He grabbed her hand and fisted his own, but for some reason he hesitated to throw the punch. He just stood there staring at her face. With another shove of the blade she stabbed him in the gut. He fell to his knees groaning from the pain as he held the weapon. He ripped it out with a cry of pain and stabbed it into the floor. Moon and Caroline looked at his wound and saw that it wasn't healing like his normal wounds do. Matthew struggled to get to his feet. When he eventually managed to stand he started to chuckle. "I thought my brother would do better then to send two girls to kill me, no less two from the same band of assassins that he wiped out years ago." Moon grabbed him by the neck and held him against the wall. "What did you just sat?!" "You heard me. He was the one that killed your fellow assassins and now he's using another one to try and kill me using a dagger forged from the Nero crystal." She pulled him back and pounded him against the wall again. "Nero crystal?! What are you talking about? You're not making sense!" Matthew grinned at her, "Let me go and I'll tell you all you need to know. I swear if half of our kind knew what was going on we could have stopped my brother years ago." She released him from her grip and stepped back, "Now start talking!"
