Chapter 23

"Jangmi-ah!" Shannon ran towards the girl on the bed and threw her arms over the latter's shoulders, her eyes pressed against her left shoulder causing the tears to seep through Jangmi's shirt. Jangmi wrapped her own pair of arms around Shannon's back as her own tears started falling.

After an entire hour of crying in each others' arms, the two girls finally decided to let each other go. "How?" Jangmi asked and Shannon wiped the lingering tear on Jangmi's cheek with her thumb as she answered.

"Jimin's my mate." Was Shannon's reply and Jangmi had a frown on her face, trying to recall when they even had the chance of meeting. Shannon saw the look on her bestfriend's face and released a chuckle, "Remember the day you came back to high school after disappearing on us for more than a month?" She gave a little push to let the memory surface in Jangmi's head and it worked. The latter made an O-shape with her mouth and released her own chuckle, feeling rather stupid for forgetting that day.

Well, who could blame her? It had been years and a lot had happened in between for her to actually remember anything. "Well, you took this whole supernatural thing well." Jangmi commented, looking at how happy Shannon was when she mentioned being Jimin's mate. Shannon laughed at that statement and Jangmi looked genuinely confused at her laughter.

"Oh, you have no idea how badly I took it. It took him 1 year of dating to finally tell me that he was a vampire and let's just say I didn't take it too well and ignored him for days, weeks even. But I did notice him sneaking into my room every night, which creeped the hell out of me by the way. And well, I couldn't ignore him any longer since it's hurting me as much as it hurts him. So, here I am." Shannon smiled, recalling the memory and the corners of Jangmi's lips twitched at how happy her bestfriend looked right now.

The two girls continued talking until someone knocked on the door. Jangmi looked at the door and narrowed her eyes at her visitor, "Hi sis." Bogum gave her an awkward smile and lifted his right hand up. Shannon excused herself and saw herself out of the room, leaving the siblings to talk and solve whatever issue they had. Jangmi just looked at her brother, not knowing how to start a conversation. The way he left her was still etched in her memory but she didn't dwell much upon it as soon as she realized that it wasn't real, which she was still pissed about, yet relieved.

"How are you feeling?" He asked, sitting on the chair beside the bed. Jangmi internally scoffed at her brother but still responded to his question.

"Fine." was her response. She knew that the relationship between her family need to be amended and she also knew that she was being hard on them, but she couldn't help but be angry at them. The anger was just there whenever she sees any of them. There was an awkward tension forming between the two siblings, with Jangmi look down at her hands and Bogum looking down at her blanket.

"I'm sorry." He started when he couldn't take the silence any longer and Jangmi just hummed in response. She had heard that apology so many times and she also knew that it was sincere, but she had a hard time erasing the image of what happened in the past from her head.

She let out a sigh and looked up at her brother, making up her mind. "Can you at least get rid of whatever it is that you have put in my head? It's disturbing." She cringed as the memory played itself in her mind. Her brother let out a chuckle and didn't hesitate to do what she asked for. He placed his right hand on her head and a glow formed around his hand. Jangmi felt the warmth spreading in her head as the memory faded into nothingness.

"But we're still not forgiven, are we? Mother and father are waiting for you." Bogum told Jangmi as he caressed her head the same way he did before he left her. Jangmi felt nostalgic at the gesture and tears pricked her eyes but she didn't let it fall as she just looked back down on her hands.
