Destiny rolls her eyes. "Yeah because I need further training." She catches the eyes of the two brothers. "I mean c'mon, look at me. I can take on half a dozen wolves in a flash."
"And I believe you," Sam replies, "but believe me when I say it, you'll want the extra push. And besides, you don't know that much about your target."
As they walk through the rooms on the way to the basement, Destiny is getting a tugging feeling at her heart like a huge sense of déjá vü. "Hey," Destiny calls out, stopping in her tracks. Dean and Sam exchange glances and do the same, looking her in the eye. "What's the history on this building, if anything at all?"
Dean starts off, "Well it has multiple histories. From the year it was built, 1920, all the way until the 80s, it was a mental hospital. In '85, it became an orphanage." Hearing those words made Destiny swallow hard. If the brothers noticed, they hadn't done anything to show it. "The orphanage thing ran on for two decades."
A bit hesitant, Destiny asks, "Well why isn't it still an orphanage? Damn thing ended in '05, and it's only been 9 years since they shut it down."
Sam continues the little history lesson, explaining what happened. "Yeah, it got shut down alright. The place burned down. It killed almost all the kids and the mother figure."
"What kinda sick bastard would so this," Destiny asks her voice slightly shaky.
"Police, and us, to this day have no clue. The only thing that popped up as evidence was a strand of red hair, but get this, police think it was a suicide. The mother, who also has red hair, was found lying in her bed with a charred lighter in her hand when the firefighters killed the flames but regardless, nothing adds up After further inspection, turns out the mother was shot in the head. And plus, cops don't know this but, there were only two survivors. They were kids. One of them was a 6 year old brunette. The other was a 10 year old redhead."
It's as if Dean was already knowing what was swarming in Destiny's head. "Got somethin' on your mind," he requests. Startled, she shakes her head no. "Well c'mon. Right through here." Dean opens the door and the three of them descend into the basement. When they get to the base of the stairs, Destiny rests her pack and her jacket down on the floor.
The basement looked similar to the home base out in the woods, minus a few differences. This one was smaller, and so was everything else. Rather than the torches glowing their regular light blue glow, they emmited a bloody orange colour.
"Alright, well, let's cut right to it," Dean jumps in, killing the silence. "Like Sammy said, we only got four days." Checking his watch, he let's out a sigh. 21:30. "Might as well be three. Heads up!" He tossed a bottle of 5-Hour Energy at Destiny and she catches it without a problem, almost as if she didn't even move in her effort to do so. "Take a few swigs. We need to squeeze in as much time as possible in these next few days."
"You're the boss." Destiny takes a sip from the bottle before asking, "So what's
the next step from here?"
"Well you know just about everything except for how she looks." Dean toggles a few of the controls on the panel. In a short while, a photo of a woman was on the monitor, This was about the third time Destiny has seen her without a single trace in her memory of who she is. "This here, is Ellie. Your target."
Ellie was wearing a grey leather trench coat with a dark red interior. Her hair was red, long, and straight, as Destiny envisioned from the woman in the hallucinations a few hours ago. Ellie also wore a grey skin-tight tank top, black leather fingerless gloves and grey cargo pants with black boots on. What shook Destiny the most was the fact that Ellie wore an amulet very identical to Destiny's except Ellie's was red.
Destiny stood there, staring at the screen, biting her lip. Dean seemed to take notice, as he said with a small chuckle, "I know, the chick is stunning, but she needs to die. And by your hand."
"I know, it's just. . ." Destiny goes to play with her amulet around her neck but plays it off by massaging the back of her neck. "Ah forget it, it's nothing."
Checking his watch, reading 21:45, Dean pronounces that they need to start training Destiny now. "Go up into the attic with Sammy. You'll need something before we start. I'll get everything prepared down here."
"Follow me." Sam leads the way up the stairs to the first and then second floors.
The entire walk has been awkwardly quiet. When they got to the attic, Sam opens the compartment in the wall bearing the OXV's insignia on it. Inside of it is a katana sheathed inside of its holster.
The handle was made of leather straps that mixed between the colours of black, white, and grey. The holster was a solid black colour of leather, with what seemed to be the blade's name engraved on the end of it in a cursive font in golden letters.
Following her gaze, Sam says, "Meet Yamato. The greatest katana crafted since the history of mankind. It can literally kill, just about anything. Rumor has it there is a twin alternative to this katana, a broad sword known as Rebellion. Yamato and Rebellion are two blades meant for either two brothers or two sisters. Dean and I thought it was us, but neither of us can wield it."
Destiny throws him a look of bewilderment. "So, what, somethin' tellin' you that I can?"
"That's the idea."
"Well get the damn idea outta your head. It's not even logical. I'm an only child, if you haven't noticed already."
"You'll see." Sam takes the blade from its compartment within the wall. Even
with all his might, his face straining from the effort, he could not unsheath the blade. Letting out a gasp for air, he passes Yamato over to Destiny and says,
"Here, you try."
With a slight giggle, she takes the blade from his hands. "If you seriously think I can do this," she grips the handle and pulls, "you're fu—." She finds herself shocked at the fact that extracting the katana was as easy as sliding a knife through melted butter. "—king insane."
"I wasn't kidding, was I? Here's another little fun fact for you. I take it you had literally no idea of this, given how you claimed you're an only child. Yamato and Rebellion are bound by blood. The legend says the latest same gender siblings born into the Family of the Ancients are given amulets at childbirth. Amulets to resemble power. One of them is red and the other is blue. . .just like yours."
Destiny swallows hard as she begins to put the puzzle pieces together. "Where's Rebellion?"
"Ellie. Ellie has it."
