Strings of Fate

I'll Remember

A girl named Alex was new in town. She has a best friend named Cha Eunwoo. Whenever he would visit her at her new apartment, the string on his wrist would turn red. But because Alex was colour blind she had always thought his string was blue. Her string turns blue when they are together.

In another occasion.
While doing her research on the history of the "Strings of fate" in a local café. She bumps into a stranger, and their string appears green. But hers turns white. The guy at the café asks her questions about the colour of her string and somehow knows information about her. She's a little freaked out by the amount of knowledge he has of her despite her not knowing who he is. He explains that his name is Park Jihoon and that they were old friends, when she lived in their previous town. They were classmates and had a great bond in school. Although she cannot recall this.

Fast forward to a couple weeks of moving into her new apartment. She ventures out into town so she is able to familiarise herself with the new environment. She goes to an art gallery and runs into a guy by accident and a cup of coffee is spilt on her coat, he decides to treat her in the form of his apology. His string appears white and so does hers. They introduce themselves. His name is Huang Lucas. But as time passes they begin to get to know eachother's stories and their relationship is built up. Gradually their strings begin to appear blue.
After a few months, without realising the colour of their strings, both turn red. However, Lucas' was glowing.

A year has passed.
Lucas and Alex were so blinded by each other's love that they did not use the string to determine their relationship, but instead through their personal bond. After a couple of months. Lucas' string begins to turn blue, then green and then eventually back to white. But Alex's string stayed red. Lucas leaves the town and Alex is heartbroken since he left without an explanation. Alex's string continues to turn red when she thinks about Lucas, even after he left.

Two years have passed and Alex has moved on from Lucas and focusing back on her research on the "Strings of fate". In her room, she has tons of notes and piles of books laying around. She has almost dedicated her life into finding out a lot about the colour changing strings.
Her research these past couple of years has found that, the strings were created because individuals around the world were so unsure about their feelings about another person and did not know how to express it that a scientist and a psychologist named Alistair Greene and Marie Wilson were inspired to create a piece of technology which would cancel the confusion individuals would stress about. And it was as simple as a string wrapped around everyone's wrist. The changing of colours were created through a smart nano technology called 'The Chameleon Package'. Since the strings were latched onto a person's wrist, it was able to easily read off of the person's thoughts and feelings through their nerves.
Alex continued to search for more interesting facts about the strings. She found that the strings had conflicting and helpful sides to it.

After a while, Eunwoo decides to visit Alex. They decide to go out for dinner. As they are having their meal, Alex notices that Eunwoo's string is glowing, but of course, continues to see the colour blue. She doesn't understand the glowing side and assumes Eunwoo's friendship with her is very strong and is extremely happy about his feelings for her and she feels blessed to have a friend like him. His string is actually glowing the colour red.
After the dinner, they walk around a beautifully lit park. Eunwoo explains that he is in love with her but she refuses to believe what he is saying and goes along with the colour of the strings. He then explains that she has been colour blind ever since she was born but no one has ever mentioned it to her. He ends the night by telling her that his string was actually glowing red. He then hands her a box and a note and leans in to kiss her forehead before he leaves.

Alex comes home after a long night and places the box on her desk next to her laptop. She gets ready for bed and ends up sleeping instantly.
That night, she has a nightmare about her past life in her previous home. She lived with her parents. She would come home from college to see her beautiful mother, constantly smiling and cooking her favourite meals. Her mother's and Alex's string would both turn red. She loved her mother very much. Her father would come home after a long day, but when he's with his wife, his string would turn black.
When Alex's father and her would be left alone in the house. Having the day together, his string would turn pink. Alex having no clue about the colour changes, she thinks his string was always red. She loved her father very much too. Until one evening, while her mother had a night shift. Alex was peacefully watching television in the living room, as her drunken father walks in. He tries to seduce and molest her. But she ends up getting away from him, grabbing a chopping board from the kitchen, hitting him over the head, knocking him out solid. She rings the police and she is taken away by social services. Not able to see her mother and her father ever again. As Alex got older, she decides to move away from the horror in her old town.
