A/N: i totally did not forget to give poor Lucien some attack skills...heheh. don't worry, i got dis

Gingerly, gently, Lucien inched on his 8 roots, hoping not to meet any enemies. If the notes on his stats served him right, he was at the very bottom of the totem pole of the forest. Matter of fact, he did not see a single non-defensive skill he had. They all looked to be passive skills that he would have done well without.

Still grumbling about his misfortune, Lucien failed to notice the stream he was so carelessly approaching--Neither did he notice the fact that there was a small family of unsuspecting bear-like creatures lounging beside it. They had brown fur and occasionally stood on twos like bears, yet they had long bushy tails.

He snapped out of his dazed trance to the sound of the splashing of his roots on the water along the bank of the river. Like a deer in headlights, Lucien did something very normal for a tree for once. He froze, stiffening as what appeared to be the mother and her 3 cubs swiveled keen eyes towards the sound.

One particularly bold cub approached him, probably thinking that the sudden appearance of a tree too close to the banks of a river was bizarre. Dispersing the thought with a snort, the cub raised one hind leg, marking Lucien in a sour, golden shower.

Lucien ogled at the floating box only visible to him, taking it all in.

I could actually die if my health reaches zero. Christ almighty, status

Then again, his regeneration was pretty powerful. He creaked away his status window and patiently waited for the cautious mother Beerkat to call away her cub.

Before long, in a tree's perspective, the family had lumbered away, leaving Lucien in safe, sweet, solitude. solitude with way too much time to think.

And then came the very-much-late arrived panic. Lucien knew nothing about this world. Nor did he know what he was, where he was, or what to do. Most importantly, he had a deeply rooted feeling that he was in danger. His life could be snuffed put at any moment.

"argh." Lucien sobbed. "I don't know what to do..."

Amidst the panic, the realization about his status dawned on him. He had to get stronger no matter what...whatever he had to do to get rid of the ever-present fear. But as of now, he was utterly and completely helpless.

Lucien thrashed his roots against the river bank, sending tremors across the ground only to get lost in the forces of the river.

Until....voices.

Lucien could sense voices close by. Loud, raucous, and varying in genders. From the foliage, an arm and a leg popped out. And then a body, attached to the aforementioned limbs, followed through. She stood up and brushed stray leaves away from her robes before her head snapped up.
