I awoke the next morning to strong arms around my waist and a wet tongue running over my nose and cheeks. "What the-huh?"
I mumbled and pushed the scaly pup away from me, twisting around to stare at whoever held me so tightly. Damnit, Robert.
My eyes met those dammed oceanic ones of his, his teasing smirk radiating in the dawn sun. I instantly narrowed my eyes and pushed him away as hard as I could.
"Get off me you freak. I don't remember telling you you could sleep with me."
He chuckles and licks his lips slowly, propping his elbow up and resting his head on his large hand, his mop of sandy hair falling in his eyes.
"Really? Because you were pretty keen on letting me spoon you all night long. I didn't hear any complaints." he chuckled with that stupid grin.
I bristled at the thought he had any control over me, "Oh grow up!"
I stood up quickly and turned away, ready to storm off until the realization hit that a small companion blocked my path. "Hírajä. Come."
I snapped my fingers and walked around as his long inexperienced wings shook out behind me.
The harsh morning sun pierced through cracks in our makeshift shed, blinding me momentarily as I pulled open the door. A breeze flew through my ruffled hair, causing a sigh of content to escape my lips.
"What to do today...hmm." I thought to myself as my fingers fumbled to tie up long black strands. "We could always go interrogate people. Right Hírajä? What do you think? Will they tell the truth with a dangerously scary dragon by my side?"
I looked down at his adorable face. He wagged his tail and let out a small growl, showing his barely visible teeth. 'Yes! I'll protect you!'
I giggled and leant down to pat his head, "Good boy."

"Ma'am what do you mean you've never seen a human before? She just looks normal!"
The woman in front of me stood with hands on her hips, a long spiked tail flicking behind her annoyingly, "What do you mean normal? I'm normal. Does she look like me?"
I sighed with a half growl and set a hand to my forehead, "Nevermind, thanks for your time."
I reached down and picked up my guardian, holding him against my chest, "Well that was a hit and miss..."
His eyes blinked slowly and he sneezed at me, 'Well she wasn't lieing, the creatures here don't know what normal is. They're not from your world.'
"I suppose you're right. Ok then, let's move on."

After interrogating strangers that obviously knew nothing, I trudged back to our shed in defeat. "All those people and not one of them understood me..."
Before getting there I collapsed onto the soft green grass, letting the whispy strands caress my face and limbs. "Will I ever find her..."
Hírajä, hearing my gloomy tone, leapt onto my chest, wagging his tail and licking my cheek fervently, 'Of course you will, we can do it. I know we can.'
I smiled softly and reached up to scratch behind his ears, "Thanks buddy..."
We both lay there for a while, I even fell into a light slumber, I was awoken by the sound of footsteps behind me. I rolled my eyes, sighing softly, "If you're trying to sneak up on me you have to be quieter than that, Robert."
No response followed but I could hear the footsteps getting closer, and faster, "If you're trying to scare me it's not working..."
I felt the footsteps stop right behind me, it grew eerily quiet. Hírajä lay asleep on my chest and I turned my head to glare at Robert, "Robert this isn't funn-"
My words were cut off as I realized it wasn't Robert who stood before me, and a hooded man slipped a rough sack over my head, sending me into a world of black.
