The practice match ends with your team losing. You all make your way outside the gym. Everyone was talking about improving and training but you were still stuck in thought. You were cut off of your train of thought when you heard a defeaning but familiar voice which sent you chills.
"That was a well played game," Oikawa says.
"If you don't mind, maybe I can excuse your manager?" he says in a teasing tone looking at you as you roll your eyes.
"No one can ever touch Kiyoko-san!" Nishinoya shouts at him.
"I'm not talking about her. I'm talking about that beautiful lady over there with such a beautiful figure." he says eyeing you.
"She's our assistant coach, actually. If you want to talk to her, you have to get through us first."
"Oikawa-senpai," Kageyama finishes as he puts a protective arm in front of you.
"Get through me, specifically." Tsukishima says in a deep tone. He towers over Oikawa blocking him from even trying to lay a finger on you.
"It's alright everyone. I guess we do need to talk." you say cutting off the chaos happening.
"See, nothing to overreact about!" he says as you go near him.
"I don't even know what you want and I don't think we need to talk about anything but for both of our peace of mind, let's talk." you say as you sat on a nearby bench.
Before any of the Karasuno boys overhear what you were going to talk about, Daichi and Sugawara started to pull them away by their collars before they could cause any trouble.
"Hey, I just need to let you know I still love you and nothing can ever change that." he says as his expression changed from sarcastic to sincere and sad.
"But that's not the point. I just have to let you know that it wasn't my fault the banner thing happened. I forgot how some friends peeked in my phone and even borrowed it causing the photos to spread. Despite everything, I'm extremely sorry. I just have to let that off my chest." he says as looked down. His eye then caught the view of your wrist. The tattoo being replaced by an x.
"I can't forgive you right away but I'm glad you said sorry. Even if it wasn't your fault, I still don't regret anything. Our relationship filled my life with happiness and sadness at the same time but now that we've ended it, I've never felt happier. I hope you do well with life, Tooru. Thank you for everything." you say as you started to walk away but he grabbed your wrist as he wrapped his arms around you. His tears started to fall on your shoulder as his hug tightened around your body.
"I'm being selfish but I still love you so bad! You have your soulmate already but that won't get to my damn head. The promises we made to each other still give me hope." he says as you pull away from the hug.
"It shouldn't!" you scream at him as it was your turn to cry. You try to get away from him.
"Soulmates by choice, right? What about our promises f/n?" he says as you bit your lip.
"Those promises we made don't matter to me anymore." you say.
You can never deny to yourself that Oikawa meant something to you. You did love him but it was time to let go. You had your soulmate and he'll find his in no time. Although it did pain you to say those things to someone who was once your entire life, you just had to end things.
As you walk away from him, you can hear him and your conscience calling out for you to stay in his arms and kiss him passionately but it was for the best. You looked back at him and saw him sat on the bench with his face on his knees sobbing and sniffing. Your body wanted to go but you knew what was right to do.
