Dani sat upright in bed, reading a book and sipping wine. Her eyes perused the page and its words but she knew her brain wasn't focused. Her brain kept going back to one thought and one thought only; Tiffany.  When she thought of her, mixed feelings came to mind. She was angry, damn right she was. She had told her her true feelings. She was brave enough to finally speak up. And all Tiffany could do was get up and walk out the damn room. She hadn't spoken one word about it. How could she? Did she really deserve her heart after that?

The fresh hurt caused a tear to slip from the corner of Dani's eye. The last thing she really wanted to do was cry about it, so she grabbed her glass and took a hearty gulp. Most of the glass was consumed in that one swallow. She sighed and put the book face down beside her and covered her face with her hands. Memories of Tiffany started popping in her head. Yes, she was angry. But the girl knew how to treat a woman's body, that was for damn sure. Dani's thighs squeezed together at the thought. She missed how Tiffany made her body feel. Missed her touch, her freak side, her backside, her everything. But she needed to think about what she'd done and how she'd hurt her. There was no way in hell Dani was gonna make the first move. But yet she kept on willing that damn phone to ping with a message. And it did—but with a message from Lamont. As much as she was happy to hear from a friend she couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. Dani picked up the phone and opened the message.

Lamont: Hey how you holdin up?

       Miserable. But instead Dani typed:

                                                        Dani: I'm fine.

The biggest lie on earth. And apparently Lamont knew it because then he said:

                                                      Lamont: You're lying

Dammit Lamont. Stop figuring shit out, Dani thought. She considered lying again, but through it was pointless.

Dani: Get out of my head

For a few more moments there was silence, then Lamont actually called her. Dani sucked her teeth, picked up the ringing phone and started at it. His name was on the screen, blaring and almost demanding to be answered. She finally did so on about the 5th ring. She put it on speaker.

     "What," she half ass answered.

"Well that's not nice," Lamont said with sarcasm in his voice.

"Did you call to lecture me?" She asked.

"No I called because I'm concerned. You barely say two words at work, and I know you're drinking your weight in wine. You are not okay." He stated. Again, damn him. She wanted to sorrowfully get drunk in peace.

     "....so."

"So I know you miss Tiffany."

"Can we please not talk about her?"

"No, we're gonna talk about it because you're holding everything in. I don't think she meant to intentionally hurt you, Danielle."

"Then why the hell did she walk away???" Her own voice came out angry and unrecognizable. Like a spigot, all the emotions came flooding out. "I tell someone I have feelings for them and they choose to just walk. Is that how normal human beings function? What did I say wrong, Lamont?" Hot tears ran down her cheeks now. So much for not crying about it.

"You didn't say anything wrong at all. Nothing is wrong about a human expressing feelings for another human." He said.

"So why?" Dani's voice came out small and hurt now, like a wounded animal. It pained Lamont to hear it.

"Maybe you came on kinda strong, like too much at once?" Dani thought about it for a second. She hadn't thought so, but you never know.

"Well I wish she'd say something then," Dani said wiping her face.

"Right now she's probably afraid to. You probably have to give her time."

"It's been a week, it's not that deep."

"To you. I can talk to her and find out if you want me to."

"You do that," she said between sniffles.

"Okay. Now, put the wine glass down and come out with me and Melissa for half price appetizers. You know we don't turn down food. Plus food makes everything better," he said.

Dani looked down at her hand. She was actually holding the wine bottle at this point but he didn't need to know that.

"I need more convincing." Dani said, not budging. Lamont sighed in frustration.

"If you come out with us, I will buy you that Kahlua brownie you like so much for dessert. I can't believe I had to just bribe you with food to come and get some food." This made Dani burst out into a fit of drunken/amused giggles because she saw how absurd it sounded.

      "...or not," Lamont hesitated.

An hour and a half later, Dani joined Lamont and Melissa for the appetizers. They had a good time, laughing, joking and stuffing their faces like they always do. But Dani couldn't help but feel like their party was incomplete. They were seated at a round table and their stuff was on the empty chair. When her counterparts weren't looking, she'd wistfully glance over at that seat, wishing Tiffany was here to feed her the Kahlua brownie. She stifled her feelings and kept smiling, pretending not to feel the tugging in her heart.

She arrived home late, remembering that she had work the next day. Everything was as she left it, except her mind. The mojito she'd decided to order with her appetizer on top of the wine she'd had earlier was enough to just push her over the edge. She was tipsy, and when she was tipsy it made her think a lot. Maybe too much.

Right now, all she was thinking was that she wanted to be in bed curled up next to Tiffany. She wanted to be spooning her comfortably and falling asleep holding her. She wanted to play with her twists as she fell asleep. She wanted to feel her warm body against hers. If she gave Tiffany another chance, it would be much more than sex. Dani wanted to show Tiffany her inside now that she'd seen her outside. She wanted to offer her heart as well as her body. Would it be the same?

Dani took a hot shower and changed into her favorite pajamas then decided to curl up on the couch to try and catch one of the late night shows, as it was well past 11 now. Stephen Colbert was always worth a laugh. A politician, an actress, and a musical guest were in the lineup, but tonight's lineup she found boring. Before she could even turn it off and let herself daydream before falling asleep, she felt her eyes fluttering over and over until she unknowingly fell asleep right there on the couch with her throw blanket. The very last thought on her mind was the taste of  Tiffany's lips and how much she missed them before she drifted into dreamland.
