The two of them had known nothing but bliss since their overnight getaway. They were constantly texting, always flirting at work, with Lamont not too far rolling his eyes. Recently they revealed their secret to Melissa, who was nothing but happy for them. That's as far as it was going. They both knew their job was like rumor mill and they didn't want many people in their business.

Today was a slow day at work, with Jason constantly bothering Tiffany with every text. She just about ignored him. Tiffany and Dani were working windows side by side today, and when nobody was looking, they would sneak a kiss or hold hands. Tiffany stole a glance at the clock, almost 12:30.

"Lunch?" She said to Dani. Dani turned her beautifully made up face towards Tiffany and squinted in thought.

"You know, I'm really not that hungry. Can we just like...walk?" She asked.

"Sure," Tiffany answered. A few minutes later they were out of the station and on the sidewalk. They walked slow, holding hands, oblivious to the world around them. Just blissful. Of course they got a stare or two from some  older people around them but they paid it no mind.

"Can I ask a question?" Dani suddenly spoke up.

"You can ask me anything you want," Tiffany responded. She felt the love for her begin budding in her heart all over again. Love that she had never felt with Jason...

"Have you figured it out yet?" Dani broke the silence. Tiffany was actually glad that she'd brought this up because she'd been racking her brain with this subject for hours on end. She stopped, and faced Dani with a small smile.

"Actually, I have." Dani looked back at her, hopeful. Tiffany took a deep breath. "I'm gonna leave him." Dani's eyes widened in hope. Putting the words into the air made them seem more real, but she also felt slight fear. Was she really doing this? Could she really do this? She had to plan carefully because she knew Jason's temper and she wanted everything to be smooth. Yes, she had to be careful. Dani broke out into a full on smile, grabbed Tiffany's face and kissed her lovingly. Tiffany sank into it, letting the world around her disappear. The blissful feeling came unfurling back into her. Dani ended the kiss and looked directly into Tiffany's eyes.

"I'm so glad you came to your senses. He doesn't love you like I do," Dani said in a soft voice and then captured Tiffany's mouth again. Tiffany's heart felt warm and full. Now she knew for sure she had to keep her and she'd be a plain fool to let her go.

After they were all done for the day, the gang all went to their usual spot for a few drinks. Everybody in their circle was officially aware of Dani and Tiffany's relationship now. Jamal didn't know, nor did he even show up. Suddenly, Lamont stood, shot glass in hand.

"So I wanna propose a toast," he started out, staring at them. "Dani, Tiffany, y'all were quite a surprise. I mean, I wouldn't have expected that in a million years."

The two of them looked at one another and shared a peck. Tiffany was wrapped in Dani's arms.

"Now I know I been kinda clowning y'all, but you actually look cute and happy together and I don't wanna take that away from you. So Imma wish y'all prosperity, happiness..." he struggled to finish his closing statement. "...and all that good stuff. Just make sure when we all go on vacation next time, y'all please keep it the hell down, because..." all the women at the table cut him off with banter and jokes. Poor Dani laughed but looked slightly embarrassed. Tiffany smirked and had to add the last word.

"Yeah that was me y'all heard puttin' in work," Tiffany quickly raised her glass and downed it right before a shocked and amused Dani slapped her in the arm. Lamont smiled and pointed at Tiffany.

"My man," he said Denzel style. Dani crumpled up a napkin and threw it at him. She missed.

"So Tiffany, does that mean you broke up with that dude?" Melissa asked. This kind of put Tiffany on the spot because she hadn't texted Jason yet to give him some kind of heads up.

"I will be," she said. Out the corner of her eye she saw Dani shift around uncomfortably. I got you baby, I promise. Melissa made a face.

"Girl what exactly are you waiting on? From what I hear he's really not treating you right." Melissa said. Tiffany looked at both Lamont and Dani who were both looking away purposely. She frowned up her face at them but gave her answer.

"Not so much waiting but trying to figure out an exit. Like a way to leave without him going off." She said.

     "Just go!"

"But I kinda wanna stick it to him though."

"Mhm, of course you gotta have the last word," Lamont quipped, rolling his eyes.

     "It's not like that."

     "Then what is it?"

"I want him to shit himself. Like, 'Oh shit, she's serious'."

"And how you gonna do that?"

Tiffany thought for a moment. She knew that if she texted Jason something ominous, once he saw the message he'd start freaking out and blowing up her phone. And he would be ignored. She smiled at her friends.

"Watch." She said. Tiffany then picked up her phone and opened her messages to Jason. She took a deep breath, and began to type. Why was this so scary?

                                                     T: We gotta talk later

She placed the phone on the table and stared at it, eyebrows raised and waiting. Her friends peered over at it.

"That oughta make him wonder! You better stick it to him!" Melissa said. Dani was nervously gripping her arm. It's okay baby, I got this. Not too soon after that, her phone vibrated against the table with not one, but two messages.

                                                     J: What is it
J: Where the fuck are you even, there's nothing to eat here

Seemed like he was on his period again, as expected. Tiffany looked over and caught Dani glaring at her phone.

"Wowwwww, dude is bold as fuck. I don't like how he's talking to you T," Lamont said. "If you really do this tonight and dude starts getting reckless don't be afraid to hit me up."

"He better not get that stupid," Tiffany responded. She looked over at Dani and she was still glaring.

      "Babe...what's the matter?" She asked

"I hate him," Dani said in a cold, steely monotone voice. "I hate the way he speaks to you. I hate the way he treats you. He does not deserve you."

Tiffany's eyes softened at her beautiful girlfriend. GIRLFRIEND. She looked so cute when she was mad...and when it wasn't directed at her. She gently reached over and cupped her face, her thumb rubbing over her cheek gently.

"Danielle. Look at me." Dani managed to tear her eyes away from Tiffany's phone. Tiffany looked directly into Dani's eyes. "That is why I'm leaving him. I would rather be forever in bliss with you then spend another day with him. I got this." Dani's eyes finally softened and before she could say a word, Tiffany's lips were over hers.

I really hope I'm right, she thought, hoping her thoughts did not cross into the kiss.
