Time to Thaw

If I lived underneath
the cold comfort of
snow, I would shudder,
freeze, and die. Numb.

Snow, white
hard and packed
thick and strong
surrounding me
surrounding you
Our hands would never touch
Our mouths could not part
to utter a single word
Our kisses would be lost

The sun melts away
so much more than snow.
It melts away the old me,
the old you. Nature teaches
us to freeze and then thaw.
Freeze and thaw.
Freeze, thaw.

You can only be numb
for as long as you keep
the sun out. Thaw
your soul, and thaw
your whole world.
