And all of the steps that led me to you

And all of the hell I had to walk through

But I wouldn’t trade a day for the chance to say

My love, I’m in love with you

The Words-Christina Perri

“Can you please just talk to me?”  Torstein says as I storm away from him and down the hotel hall.

“Please stop following me.” I say without turning around to look at him.  I can feel that he’s just steps behind me.

“Y,n, please.  I can explain everything if you just talk to me.”  Torstein says.  Of course he has an explanation.  He’s Torstein.  Everybody warned me about him, but I wouldn’t listen.

“I don’t want to hear your shitty explanation, Torstein.  I really don’t.”  I tell Torstein as I stop walking and face him.  He almost runs into me.

“Shitty explanation?  Y/n, I’m not your ex-boyfriends.  When will you get that?  I never cheated on your or treated you badly, and I never plan to.  When will you fucking understand that?”  Torstein says with a pissed off look on his face.  He waits for me to respond, but when I don’t, he turns and walks away.

I’ve had some sketchy boyfriends in my past and Torstein knows that.  All my friends told me Torstein would be no different from any of the other guys.  Torstein is good looking, rebellious, and a pro athlete. It’s a horrible combination, but he’s been pretty great to me up until this point.

Torstein and I had dinner plans for 7pm, but he didn’t show.  I assumed the worst.  I assumed he got hurt on the slopes or something, but no.  I find him hanging out at a bar with a bunch snowboarders and dumb girls.  He had never even called to tell me he’d be late.

I go back into our hotel room and go to bed early.  I do my best to forget about my horrible fight with Torstein and just fall asleep.  I’m woken up late by the hotel door opening.  I roll over and pretend to still be asleep so Torstein won’t try to talk to me.

“I know you’re awake, y/n.”  Torstein says with a little laugh.  I ignore him and attempt to fall back asleep.  Torstein then jumps on the bed, laying his head down next to mine.

“Go away.”  I say like a pouty child.  Torstein laughs at this.

“Talk to me.”  Torstein says as he runs his fingers through my hair.  “Please?”

“Fine.  What do you want to talk about?”  I ask him in a snotty tone.

“I’m sorry about earlier.  I lost track of time and I know that I messed up, but it won’t happen again.”  Torstein says as he still plays with my hair.

“I’ve heard that before.”  I mumble back to him.

“I’m different than them, y/n.  I know I’m not the best boyfriend in the world, but I love you more than anything.  I swear I’ve never loved anyone more than I love you.  I know I haven’t told this before, but I think about it all the time.  I’m in love with you.”  Torstein says to me.  I turnover so that his face is just inches from mine.

“You’re in love with me?  I thought you’ve never told a girl you loved her.”  I say to Torstein.  He’s notorious for being noncommittal.

“That’s true.  I’ve never told a girl I loved her…until tonight. I’m sorry about earlier.  I have no excuse, but I never wanted to hurt you.  Please trust me.”  Torstein says quietly.

“I love you, too.”  I whisper to Torstein.  “I just…I just don’t want this to be like my other relationships or all of your other relationships.”

“I’ve never really had a relationship before you.  You’re the first person I’ve ever called my girlfriend.”  Torstein tells me before kissing me.  He pulls me into his arms and I can tell that he means every word he says.

“How have you gone your entire life without having a girlfriend?”  I ask with a smile.

“I’ve had girlfriends.  Lots of girlfriends, just none like you.”  Torstein says as he kisses me again.  “I promise I’ll be good to you.”

“I believe you.”  I say as I bury myself into Torstein’s chest.  I suddenly feel very safe in his arms.  He kisses my forehead before we fall asleep completely wrapped up in each other.
