"How are you from Chaska?!?" I yelled the question at him like a dart flying into the lawn.
"It wasn't my choice of where I went to school. I have to live on my own. I don't have parents. The only place that I could afford to buy was in this school district. From what my father said though before he died, he told me that education was valuable and vital for my future."
I saw the sadness in his eyes as he started talking about his father. They must have been close if he was talking about him with such pride and somberness.
"Were you close to your father?" I asked sympathetically.
"Father was a great man. There aren't any words to describe how amazing he was. He was impossible to make an agreement with, but that is what made him such a great ruler."
As Levi's voice trailed off, I realized that he had said, ruler.
"Your father was a ruler?" I questioned him.
"Um... never mind what I said. That just slipped out."
"No, I want to know. Now."
"Belle it is none of your concern. Plus, I hardly know you." He argued with me for about twenty minutes with me about whether I know him or not. As we argued, he learned more and more about me. You know, the basics. The favorite color, favorite animal, favorite state, fruit, flower, food, scent. We talked for longer. Then, my phone rang.
"Hello?" I asked into the phone. I was expecting my mother to answer.
"Hello, Isabella. I have your mother and your father at the warehouse on Main Street. Come and see me if you ever want to see them again."
Then the phone hung up.
"Levi, I have to go. Now!" I yelled the last word. "Can you drive?"
"I can, but it isn't the prettiest..."
"No, no, no! That is perfect. I need you to take me to the warehouse on Main Street!"
"Okay! Okay! Calm your tits!" He yelled back at me with such force that I was awestruck with how loud he could be.
"Now, which car is yours?"
"The one right in front of you Belle," he said kindly and gentle. Why is this the time that he is calm and content with me?
I ran over the car as fast as I could and opened the door. I slammed it shut as soon as I was in, but the buckle didn't want to stay down.
"Belle, do you want me to go in with you? I could help you. From how you were yelling at me, it sounds like your hurt or going to get hurt."
"Okay, as long as you don't hurt yourself. I don't even know what we are getting into. Someone randomly called on my mother's phone saying that they kidnapped my parents and that they are in the warehouse building. I didn't get any other information about who, what, where, when, why, or how." I nearly started crying when I finished saying it.
"It is going to be fine. I will help you if there is any trouble. Okay?" He sounded so comforting. I almost started crying.
"Levi, I'm scared."
"Me too."
...
We pulled up to the warehouse and everything looked like it normally does. The thought of my parents being kidnapped is still making my stomach churn. What if they really did get taken, and what if they are already dead? I can't believe that this is happening to me.
We walked to the door, I opened it, but what I saw would scar me for life.
