Liz sighed as the car pulled up to the small white house. She had just moved to Maine from South Carolina after her mother had passed away. The transition was hard, with having to leave behind her friends, most of her family, and all of her memories. Myrtle Beach had been her home for her entire life.

"You ready to head inside?" Liz's father, Jerry, asked.

"I guess..." Liz muttered, grabbing her backpack and swinging it over her shoulder.

She grabbed a box from the trunk and began walking to the front door.

"Almost... got it..." Jerry muttered, struggling to fit the key in the lock.

"Hurry up, Dad! It's boiling out here!" Liz said.

"I'm trying!" Jerry replied.

Liz huffed and blue a piece of her green hair out of her face. "Try jiggling the key." She suggested.

After a few minutes of jiggling and slight swearing, there was a pop and the door swung open.

"There we go!" Jerry cried.

They stepped inside the house and Liz put the box down.

"God, It's a million degrees in here!" Liz sighed.

She helped Jerry bring in a few things from the car before leaning against the wall and sighing.

"Go explore the outside while I try to get the AC working!" Jerry suggested.

Liz shrugged, sticking her hands in the pockets of her shorts. "I think we passed a skate park on our way into the neighborhood, so I might go there."

"Good idea. Don't forget your phone." Jerry said, fidgeting with the AC box.

Liz nodded and ran outside. She grabbed her skateboard from the car trunk and jumped on it, riding it down the street.

It took a few minutes to find it, but she finally arrived at the skate park.

She opened the gate and walked in. There were two other guys already there. They looked around her age. One of them had fiery red hair, and the other had ocean blue hair. Liz smiled. They had the same taste as her when it came to hair.

She skated around for a bit, before taking a rest on top of a large cement hill.

She glanced back at the two boys to see them skating towards her. The guy with red hair tried to do a kick flip but lost his balance and fell forward.

The other kid began laughing his butt off. "Nice, Mark!" He said.

"Shut up, Ethan!" The guy, whose name was apparently Mark, cried.

Liz smiled and got up. She skated down to the boys. "Nice fall." She said.

Red head smiled. "Thanks! I tried my best!" He said sarcastically.

"Hey, I don't think I've seen you around before." The blue dude said.

"You haven't. I legit just got here from South Carolina, like, a half hour ago." Liz said.

"Well, welcome to Maine!" Blue dude said. "I'm Ethan Nestor, and this is Mark Fischbach!"

Liz smiled. "Lizzy McKenzie. But everyone just calls me Liz."

"Nice to meet you!" Mark said. "I like your hair!"

Liz smiled and ran her fingers through her the blue and green mess on her head. "Thanks! I like the red and blue!"

"Thanks!" Mark and Ethan said in unison, which made Liz giggle a bit.

"Hey, you wanna ride over to the gas station and get slushies?" Ethan asked.

"Sure!" Liz smiled.

They got on their boards and began riding down the street.

The door beeped and a rush of cool air flowed over them as they stepped inside the gas station.

"Red cherry is the best." Ethan stated, grabbing a cup and filling it up with the red slushie.

"Nah, blue raspberry is better." Mark argued, filling his cup up.

"What kind are you gonna get Liz?" Ethan asked.

Liz looked between the two flavors. "Red Cherry for the win!"

"Yes!!" Ethan cried, pumping his fists in the air, causing Liz to giggle.

"So tell us about yourself." Ethan said, running his fingers through his blue hair.

"Uh, I'm from Myrtle Beach, I'm fifteen, and my day of birth is March sixteenth."

"Hey, were older!" Mark said, nudging Ethan with his elbow.

Ethan snorted. "Not by much. Plus, you're still fifteen, Mark."

"Not in two days, I won't!" Mark replied with a smile.

"Happy early birth of the day." Liz laughed, taking a sip of her slushie.

"Thank you, madam!" Mark said with a goofy accent.

"Ah, but of course, Sir Mark." Liz replied with an equally as goofy accent.

The three burst into laughter.

"So, what street do you live on?" Ethan asked as they left the gas station.

"Starry Avenue." Liz told him.

"Wait, so do I! You must be the people that bought the house across the street from me!" Ethan said, excitedly.

"Ugh, I feel bad for you." Mark said with a grin.

"Why's that?" Liz asked.

"Because now you have to deal with him more!" Mark told her.

Ethan punched Mark on the arm. "Shut up! She's gonna make the street a hell of a lot better!"

Liz laughed. "Thanks."

Her phone buzzed from inside of her pocket. She pulled it out and saw that it was a text from her dad.

"Hey, I gotta get home. My dad is trying to fix the AC and needs help."

"Okay. It was really nice to meet you, Liz!" Ethan smiled. "We should hang out again tomorrow!"

"Totally!" Mark said.

"Yeah, sounds good! Here's my number." Liz told them, holding out her phone.

Ethan and Mark put it in their phones and said goodbye as Liz skated away.
