"You were gone for a while." Jerry said as Liz walked in through the front door.

"Yeah, I met some boys at the skate park and we got slushies at the gas station." Liz told him.

"Sounds like fun! What were these boys' names?" Jerry asked, curiously.

"Mark and Ethan. They're the same year as me and Ethan lives across the street." Liz explained, leaning against the wall.

"That's nice." Jerry said, turning his attention back towards the AC.

"You said you needed help with fixing the thing?" Liz asked.

"Oh yes, I did, but by the time you got here I had figured it out. Also the sun was beginning to set and I didn't want you to get lost in the dark." Jerry told her

Liz nodded and headed toward her room. The movers had come the day before so all of her furniture was there already. About ten boxes were scattered around the small room. Liz opened the first one and saw it was filled with her clothes. She grabbed a hoodie and slid it on, before heading back into the hallway.

Jerry walked out from the living room.

"I've given up on the AC." He told her. "It is beginning to cool down anyways, so there's no need for it at the moment."

"That's okay. What are we gonna do for dinner? I'm starving." Liz asked.

"I called in a pizza at the pizza parlor in town. I'm about to pick it up." Jerry said.

"Sweet!" Liz cheered, pumping her fists in the air.

Jerry kissed Liz's forehead before walking out the front door. She heard the car start up and drive away.

Liz took this moment to explore the house. It was a simple, one story house. Liz's room was in the far left corner. It had one bathroom and a small closet. Across the hallway was the kitchen. Jerry's room was across the right side of the house. Since it was the master bedroom, it was much larger. There was a bathroom and a closet like Liz's room, but Jerry also put in an office for his work. Next to Jerry's room, by the front door, was another bathroom. In the back of the house, by the back door, was the living room.

Liz sighed, not being satisfied by the house and went outside. The house was plain white with a black front door. It had a small porch with a single lawn chair on it. She slowly began walking around the house. On one side there was a shed and on the other there was a large tree. In the back there was a small fenced in yard. Liz circled back around the house and went back inside. She dodged unopened boxes and grabbed her phone, plopping down on the couch.

She smiled, realizing she had gotten a text message.

Unknown: Hey! It's Ethan! Me and Mark were heading to the community pool tomorrow, if you wanna come? :)

(A/N I'm on a computer. I can't type actual emojis. I'm sorry!)

Liz quickly saved Ethan's number and set the contact as "Blue Dude" and replied to his message.

Liz: Sounds like fun! I'll be there!

Blue Dude: YES! Can't wait!

The front door opened and Jerry walked in, carrying two pizza boxes and two soda bottles.

Liz grabbed the soda and closed the door for him.

Jerry thanked her and set the food down

She opened the boxes, and saw that one contained breadsticks and the other had meatball pizza.

"I have some work I need to finish in my office. Otherwise I would eat with you." Jerry told her, putting some food on a paper plate.

"It's okay, Dad. I'll eat out on the front porch." Liz replied.

Jerry nodded before walking away. The door shut and Liz sighed. She loved her father, but with his new job, he had been extremely busy. He was making business calls pretty much the whole car-ride to the new house. Liz shook her thoughts from her head and grabbed a few pieces of pizza before going outside. She brushed some of the dirt off the lawn chair and sat down.

((Prospective swap to Ethan and Mark))

Ethan looked over to his phone as it buzzed again. He assumed it was his mom texting him to come home, but instead it was Liz. He grinned and paused the game he and mark were playing.

"Hey!" Mark cried. "I was about to win!"

Ethan mumbled a quick sorry before turning his attention back to his phone. Mark peeked over his shoulder.

"Who you texting?"

Ethan shoved him away. "Liz."

"Oh sweet! She seems cool!" Mark said, unpausing the game.

"Yeah I invited her to the pool tomorrow." Ethan said, picking his controller back up.

"Nice." Mark said, not fully paying attention.

"Yeah, I hope she's in some of our classes when the school year starts back up."

"Same..."

Ethan checked is phone again. "Hey, my mom wants me home. I'll see ya later."

Mark waved, engrossed in the game, as Ethan stood up and left.

He slowly walked down the street. He looked up at the sky. The sun was setting, casting a red glow over everything. A warm breeze blew, ruffling his blue hair. He turned on the street and glanced over at Liz's house. She was sitting on her porch, scrolling through her phone and eating a slice of pizza.

"Hey Liz!" Ethan called.

She looked up and smiled. "Hey Ethan!" She replied.

He walked over leaned on the porch railing. "So, you're down to go to the pool tomorrow?"

"Yeah, of course! I'll talk to my dad about it tomorrow, but I'm sure he'll be cool with it. What time are we going?" She asked.

"Probably around noon. Me and mark can bring lunch." Ethan replied.

"Can't wait! I'll see you tomorrow."

Liz nodded. "See ya tomorrow!"

Liz smiled as he walked away. A light blush spread across her cheeks. He was so nice, and to be honest, pretty cute as well. Her eyes widened. Was she falling for someone she just met a couple of hours ago?
