As the judges chose a show choir to award as number one, the MCs held a dad joke competition. It was honest to goodness cute, with a few unintelligible ones from 5 year olds in the crowd, some where when they came up onstage, their show choir started clapping and cheering as if they elected someone to go up and tell the joke, and some corny jokes that made me, like the cliché I am, genuinely slap my knee. My three highlights of that contest were:
1) when one of the girls from the older, varsityish show choir went up and said, and I quote,
"My life."
Wow. *wipes tear from cheek* That was beautiful beyond comparison.
2) When another kid from another show choir asked the crowd,
"What do you call a cow with two legs?"
"Your mom."
The crowd went wild and the MCs said "OOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!" in the background.
3). Was when a six/seven year old who went up and spoke to the crowd,
"I'm hungry"
"Hi Hungry, I'm dad!"
This time, one of the MCs spoke:
"I've been waiting for that one this WHOLE time!!"
She was hands down the undisputed, unofficial winner of the night.
