The next night, no Shadow came; only Kaitou Kid did. And with that, he gave the Marionette jewels back to Ruby, saying his last words for her;

"And by the way, June happens to be Machalite(makaito) in French."

Ruby didn't understand at first but in the end, she remembered Aoko saying, "Kaito's born in June."

With a sigh of awe and relief she murmured as the she got farther away from Japan, "Farewell, Kuriba Kaito. And to you too... Shadow."

Shock pumped through her veins as a pale hand tapped her shoulder, "I guess I should say goodbye too, Chat Noir?"

The owner of the hand walked away, and Ruby could only stare at the man's back as his teal hair carved into her mind. So Shadow was never a ravenhead.

That was the first time Shadow revealed himself to another thief.

--------

"Kuroko!!!" Kagami yelled, swiftly catching up with the tealnette and putting an arm over his shoulder.

"Oh," Tetsuya looked up from his book, "Kagami-kun."

"Oi, Bakagami, keep your hands off Tetsu!" Aomine barged, tearing the redhead away from the blank-faced teenager, then shielding him with his wide arms. "Move away!"

Their schoolmates didn't even bother looking at them anymore; it was the usual, after all. Tetsuya would walk around reading a book, then Kagami and Aomine will argue about who his real bestfriend was. And soon-

"Kurokocchi, Aominecchi, Kagamicchi!" Kise ran across the other end of the hallway, engulfing the three in a big hug.

- Kise would come in, Midorima and Takao right after him.

"Tsk, get off them, nanodayo."

"Haha, let them be, Shin-chan."

Snip, all of them came to a frozen state as the sound of scissors sounded to their ears. They gulped, Tetsuya keeping his cool, then all turned to see their captain with the pink-haired manager.

"No one went to practice, again."

"Wait, Akashi, we were just about to head there!"

"Nonsense. Tetsuya, get away before you get caught up in the mess."

Stepping back, Tetsuya bid them good luck and goodbye, then turned his back on them.

In memory of the Generation of Miracles (Takao and Kagami counted), died in the hands of Akashi Seijuuro. Murder weapon were scissors, and the intent was clear--- kill them, because they didn't follow his orders, and he was supposed to be absolute.

Yep, just the usual. The students continued doing their own thing, not bothering to stop the murder occuring right before their eyes.

The victims however, thought, This captain has favoritism!

And surely, his favorite was Tetsuya.

-------

The three- no, four were hiding in the locker room, coped up together to prevent anyone from hearing their conversation.

"Tonight," Takao spoke. "At Shin-chan's house."

Midorima grunted in agreement. Aomine rubbed his nape, "So, are you really not stealing for a week, Tetsu?"

"Hmm-mm," the tealnette replied. "Let's just count some jewels later."

"Sure," Midorima pushed his glasses up, "-nanodayo."

"Make sure no one discovers..." Tetsuya began.

" ...that we'll be hanging out later." Aomine finished.

After all, they wouldn't want the know-it all Akashi, cheeky Kise, detective-like Momoi, and the obnoxious Kagami knowing their secret, right?

At the end of the day, those four made sure to go separate ways to avoid the others' suspicions.

Aomine took a shortcut to Midorima's house, while Takao went with the greenhead from the beginning, and Tetsuya had to jump over walls to get there.

"Finally~!" Takao greeted them. "You're here."

"Tch. I arrived here first, Bakazunari." Aomine popped a vein, snapping at the ravenette.

"Oh, right~" Takao wiggled his brows at Tetsuya, "You wanna see Shin-chans newest invention?"

Aomine jerked up from his seat. "No way! The megane actually made techs?!"

Takao proudly nodded and slung an arm at his self-proclaimed nerdy bestfriend, who slapped his hands away, "It's not like I wanted to help, nanodayo~"

Aomine and Takao shared the 'yeah-whatever' look, while Tetsuya didn't bother talking anymore and just grabbed the pitch black wristwatch.

"This must be it, right Midorima-kun?" He politely but soullessly asked, holding the device up.

"Kuroko..!" Midorima flinched, grabbing the wristwatch away from him. "Where did you find it?"

Stoically, the tealnette pointed at the box above Midorima's study table. "Of course you'd find it there.." The tsundere shook his head.

"Care to explain the functions?" Aomine asked, snatching it and looked at it as if scruntunizing every detail.

"I'm surprised you actually knew what 'function' is, Aomine." Midorima stated, earning a violent growl from the bluenette.

"True, true," Takao and Tetsuya nodded their heads, one hand clutching their chins in a thinking pose.

"Hey!" The tanned male grumbled, "Of course I know what it means, I invented Tetsu's goggles!"

The three bursted out laughing at his flustered expression, and Takao said, "We're just joking, Ao-chan."

Pointing at every part of the digital watch, he explained, "First is communication. This way, whenever something malfunctions--- that I doubt will happen--- Kuro-chan can easily tell us."

He glanced at Tetsuya, who nodded in response. "I doubt we'll ever need it though, well, unless their group sends the higher-ups."

"Yep," the ravenette replied. "Second is the GPS, and the ultimate hack-block system."

"Hack-block system?" Aomine piqued.

"He meant the invincible firewalls no one can take down, not even Takao, just me." Midorima cracked his knuckles. "And possibly Kagetora-san, and Kuroko."

The three hummed in agreement. "Next are the lasers, which can possibly turn a human into ashes in one hit. Then the high alert system that alerts the four of us when something that Shadow can't handle--- which I doubt again--- happens."

"This button releases some traps that would capture the enemy, and some little foldable knives inside too. Welp, figure out the rest on your own, and oh, it looks just like a normal watch, but don't wear it when you're not Shadow."

"Okay," Tetsuya replied. "Guess that works, too. Better than Aomine-kun's navy blue goggles."

"Hey! It's only the color you hate!"

"Still, black is better than blue."

"But your hair..!"

"It's teal, not blue."

"Isn't teal a type of blue, Shin-chan?"

"Nanodayo~"

Midorima's mother didn't even care about whatever they were talking about, despite repeatedly hearing things related to Shadow.

That's how much of an airhead she is.
