^-^ Happy reading. :)-----------××××××-------------×××××--------------
You slump in your chair, looking out of the window, with the cup of steaming coffee resting between your cold hands.
Even the sky is crying over my misery, you think to yourself as you watch the endless series of water droplets slide down the cafe's glass wall.
Every drop hits the wall, and collectively as they hit the wall, they make a continuous pitter patter sound.
This becomes your third background music for the day, besides the slow and calming music playing in the dimly lit cafe and the distant sounds of people conversing with each other.
For the past few days, you've been under the weather, feeling completely low and gloomy. So this is what it is like to get dumped.
Tears start to sting the back of your eyes, the picture of your ex making out with your colleague coming back to your mind. You remember how he hadn't even looked the slightest bit guilty when he saw you in front of him.
He didn't care to stop you as you ran away from them as fast as you could, tears falling down your waterline and then trickling down your cheeks.
After a safe distance from the both of them, you stopped running and kept your hands on your knees and bent down, still in shock.
He didn't even stop to explain. That bastard.
You sobbed into your hands loudly, thinking of what you just witnessed. Letting out a loud exasperated sigh, you regret to have ever met him.
I need to move on. He didn't even love me. Why should I be crying over him?
You take a sip of your coffee and wince, the hot coffee burning your tongue.
You suddenly start to have a desire of wanting to cry out of the blue, and get frustrated over how you wanted to cry even though you didn't want to.
Don't cry. He doesn't deserve these tears, you remind yourself.
In order to stop your tears from falling, you shut your eyes close, your knuckles turning white by gripping the mug of coffee tightly.
You bury your head in your palms and rest them on the table as the tears start to spill from your eyes.
After a minute or so, you become a weeping mess, snot flowing from your nose as you cry.
You slowly start to get ahold of yourself after crying for a good half an hour.
You wipe your eyes and clean the snot flowing from your nose, raising your head from the table. You find a black handkerchief lying on the coffee table, and you were certain that it wasn't there before on it. Slightly bewildered, you looked around, trying to look for the stranger who left it there.
Your eyes lay on a figure who was already looking at you. Both of your eyes lock and you look at each other for what seems like an eternity.
He mouths something that you don't understand and your eyebrows knit in confusion.
"Wipe your tears with that." He mouths, gesturing for you to pick up the handkerchief he kept there.
You smile at him, touched by his kind gesture and the fact that he had acknowledged that you were feeling blue and were crying.
You wipe you tear stained cheeks and eyes with the handkerchief that he had left.
He returns a gorgeous smile that you had never seen in your whole life. You feel your heart starting to race, your blood rushing to your cheeks and goosebumps rising on your skin. You felt like you were dreaming a dream from which you'd never want to wake up from.
You always thought that you were very good at concealing your real feelings and putting on a show, trying to make it seem as if your were perfectly happy, even though your emotions were an utter mess.
Maybe it was really obvious when I cried...
You were in a trance, thinking about how a stranger had this weird affect on you. Your mind comes back to reality and you look at the now empty chair he was sitting on just a few moments.
"He left his handkerchief..." You mumble. Chugging the cold left over coffee, you stand up in an attempt to look for him.
You stood in the middle of the cafe, slightly disappointed that you couldn't find him anywhere in the cafe.
Your hands travel to your fringe, slightly tugging it like you do when you're nervous or in deep thought.
"What do I do? He left it here without even telling me anything about him. I don't even know his name." You talk to yourself, unsure of what to do.
"Are you looking for someone?" An unexpected voice suddenly made you jump in your place and your hand goes to your heart, startled.
You turn to find the waitress looking at you with a gentle smile.
"Yeah, that man... He left his handkerchief with me. He was sitting there." You point at the empty chair. Her face lights up as she sees that spot and she turns back to face you.
"Was he wearing a black shirt? Had a milky complexion?" The waitress asks.
Black shirt? Oh. He did wear a black shirt and had a milky complexion.
"Yeah! Have you seen him? I need to return this to him." You ask her, very relieved that she had seen him leave the cafe.
"He just left a few moments ago. You can return it to him tomorrow ma'am. He's a regular here." She says, softly giggling.
"Thank you. I'll return this to him tomorrow then. Have a nice day." You smile back at her, taking his handkerchief in your hand and walking away with it.
As you walk out of the cafe, you wrap the coat tightly around you as the raindrops make their way down on your face, wetting it. You slightly shiver as the cold wind slaps your face.
Weirdly enough, the rainy weather didn't bother you at all anymore. A complete stranger had just made your day with a handkerchief and nothing really seemed sad anymore.
Nobody might realise how happy that one action made you after so many days of being sad and gloomy.
I promise I'll come back with part 2 as soon as I can. 😆 Yes there is a part two to this.
