Ryder's POV

Unfortunately, since our pack is not big enough to fund it's own school, we are sent to a human school. This isn't so bad since we get to mingle with humans, and sometimes even find companions among them. Clearly I did.

However, this means that there are certain Werewolf studies that we are to take in order to learn about the changes in our mind, body, and soul. We are also taught our origins to keep our history alive.

Because our pack, along with the surrounding packs, is relatively small, the teenagers from each pack gather onto the largest territory to study.

The Studies are taught to Kindergartners, to explain why we must keep our identities as werewolves a secret. They are then taught to wolves who have just gone through human puberty to explain what will soon happen to their bodies when their wolves emerge. Then the Senior class is taught the complete History of wolves, including why we have mates.

I am surprisingly excited to learn the rest of werewolf history. Of course, everyone's parents tell them bits and pieces of what makes us a superior race, but of course important facts were left out.

The evening of the day I met Ms. Freddie Stone our last set of Werewolf Studies began. Since my pack is the largest, the Studies are taught here. When I arrive, I look around the class. Although we still have a series of classes before we're done, it's crazy that we are all old enough to even be in this class. It just feels like yesterday when we all met as pups in the Kindergarten class.

I capture the eye of Sebastian, who looks uncomfortable for some odd reason. I ask him through our mind link, making sure to block everyone else out but he turns away and pretends not to hear me.

I recognized a few other teenagers from the surroudning packs and greeted them with a smile.

At 7 o'clock sharp Sonya walked in. "Okay, kids, let's calm down." Sonya, along with being the Pack Doctor, also taught classes to the group of Seniors every year. She has always had a way of teaching us that captures our interest from start to finish. It could be because she loves learning herself and always keeps on top of new developments in the Werewolf world.

Everyone quiets down, except for Abel, who wolf whistles as Freddie walks in. My heart starts to race, and my cheeks heat up. This never happens to me around girls! What am I doing?

I heard the hearts of a few others in the room speeding up as well. This confused me. I thought Freddie was my mate? Why would she be causing the same reaction in the others as well?

She chose a seat across the room from me next to Maria or Monica or something like that. I began to day dream, blocking everyone else out, about what our life would be like together. Picnics, long walks on the beach, some bubbly in the bathtub...

My train of thought crashed like Butch Cassidy and Sundance held it up as Sonya began to pass out small tea cups to each of us. She then pulled out several teapots and beautiful purple herbs out from a cart hidden behind her desk, smiling mischievously. Everyone but Dilton, the smartest wolf and Sonya's apprentice, looked confused.

Sonya smiled at him and nodded.

Dilton stood up and looked extraordinarily proud of himself. It annoyed me to no end. He began to explain in a very nasally voice, pausing only once to inject a nasal spray to help his allergies. Who knew wolves get allergies? "The herb that you see before you is called Aconitum, also known as Wolf's Bane." Several gasps were heard collectively around the room. Wasn't Aconitum lethal? I looked over to Freddie. She yawned, looking immensely bored. I couldn't help but crack a smile at that.

Dilton then continued, after an attempt to grin evilly. "Actonitum has historically been used to rid of wolf populations due to it's toxicity. However, because we werewolves are superior to our canine counterparts, Wolf's Bane will only dull our sense including clouding our ability to read minds in the classroom. This prevents cheating on tests. Everyone has to have one cup." He pointed a look at Abel who was infamous for making Dilton do his homework. A few groans were heard around the room, along with some angry chatter. I looked over at Freddie again. She seemed impressed that Dilton knew so much. This annoyed me even worse.
