"Mom, I don't need help. I can pack my own clothes for camp!" I said, while she was counting how many pairs of EVERYTHING I had.

"Sweetie, you're gonna be there for a week. I need to make sure you have everything you need." She responded.

"I got it, mom." I said again.

"Fine, but call me when you're done so I can make sure you have everything." She replied.

"Fine." I turned on some music and started putting tons of shorts, shirts, shoes, under wear, and dresses in my bag. The dresses are for night service. I also put a few jeans and some nice shirts. Then I put my swimsuit in my bag. I don't know why they tell us to bring a swimsuit because we never go swimming. No one ever wants to. Then I  brushed my teeth and put my toothbrush and toothpaste in the bag. I already curled my hair, so I just went ahead and put that in the bag. Then I put some mousse in my bag and some hairspray. Then I packed all my makeup stuff since i already did that. Then I called my mom in and she counted everything and checked things off of a checklist that she made as she went.

"Okay. You've got everything. Here's $60 for snacks and stuff. But that doesn't mean you have to spend it all. What you don't spend at camp, you can have."

"Are you serious?" I asked, taking the money.

"Yeah. We want you to have an amazing time! So, you ready to go to the church?"

"Yep! Let's go."

We walked out, my dad carrying my huge suitcase. Then we got everything in the car and drove off waving goodbye to my dad. "You got your phone charger and your phone?" My mom asked.

"Yep!"

We listened to music on the way to the church. "Hey, Alison!" My youth pastor, Austin, said when we got there. "Come on, let's get your bags in the van."

"Okay." I opened the trunk and got my bag and makeup box and pillow. Then, Austin sent someone over to help me with my bags. And let me tell you, the guy who came to help was hot! He had brown hair and light brown - almost green - eyes. He was wearing basketball shorts and a tee shirt and a hat. He had never came to our church before so I made it my goal to talk to him this week.

When he got done putting my stuff in the van he looked at me and said, "Hi, I'm Lucas." (Goal accomplished! Now I just need to get know him.) By the way, his voice was amazing!

"Hey, I'm Alison." I said and smiled.

He smiled back and said, "So, you ready for camp?"

"Yeah. I've been waiting all year for this week. I haven't seen you here before."

"Yeah. I have family that comes here and they invited me. And my cousin from Tallahassee is coming to visit and she's coming."

"Cool. So are y'all gonna start coming here every week?"

"Yeah. I actually just moved from Dothan. New school, new church, and new home."

"Wow. Must be crazy. What school are you transferring to?"

"Eastway Middle School."

"Really? I go there. I'm about to be in the 8th grade. I would love to show you around."

"Yeah. I'll definitely take you up on that."

I smiled. We talked about teachers and camp and different stuff until they called us into the youth room. He told me to sit by him so I did and I swear my hands were shaking the entire time. After they told us rules and everything about camp, they told us we could go ahead and get on the bus. Lucas asked me to sit by him because he only knew a few other people. We listened to some of my music on the way.
