A week later Brittany and Ashley were shopping for party supplies, for Josie's surprise birthday party. Everyone, and I mean everyone at school was going to be there. "We really need to out do ourselves this year. Last years party was okay, but this year has to be amazing." Ashley said. "Of course." Brittany said. "What color streamers?" Ashley asked. "Blue and pink, duh." Brittany replied with an attitude. Ashley wandered into Party Central, and Brittany froze. Across the mall was Nathaniel, a boy Brittany dated in sixth grade. He noticed her starring, so she ran off into the store. "There you are! I got the streamers. We need plates, cups, bowls, and seven center pieces for her picnic tables outside." Ashley proclaimed. "Yeah, okay." Brittany replied, not really listening to anything Ashley said. "Your not listening!" Ashley hissed. "Sorry. I'm a bit out of it today." Brittany answered. "I can tell. Cups, bowls, plates. Go find some, and make sure they're pink and blue!" Ashley ordered. Brittany nodded her head, and walked away.
Three hours later, Ashley and Brittany pulled into Ashley's drive way. "My parents aren't home. They went out for their usual Kayla's gone let's celebrate dinner." Ashley explained. "Wow. Why do your parents hate her so much?" Brittany asked. "She's mental, that's why. My parents want a perfect family, and she ruined it, in their eyes. I don't see how. We never get to see her. Kayla's only home for two to three days before she go's back." Ashley answered."Wow, hasn't she gotten better?" Brittany asked. "No. They say she's only gotten worse. She wont interact with anyone. She thinks there's someone named Heather who go's everywhere with her. She says Heather is her friend, but Heather is the reason why Kayla is mental." Ashley replied. "Wow, your family is worse than mine." Brittany said. "You can say that again." Ashley said, walking in the door. "The party is Saturday from five to ten. There is going to be music blasting from Josie's outdoor stereo, her gazebo will be lit up, and there will be a path down to her lake. The lake will be lit with tiki torches." Brittany explained. "And her parents are okay with this?" Ashley asked. "Nope. They don't even know. They're leaving for their anniversary, so it's just Josie, Felicity, and Blake." Brittany answered. "Knowing Felicity, she'll tattle." Ashley said. "No, they're staying over at her Grandmother's house." Brittany replied. "Don't worry Ashley, I have it all covered." she added.
