Rookie Detective

Chapter 1

The smell of bacon enters my nostrils and I smile in delight. I get out of bed and enter the kitchen to see Carolina making breakfast.

"Good morning." I said as I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her cheek.

" Good morning sweet. Sit, I'll make some tea. " she said.

I do as she says and sit at the table. Carolina and i have known each other since childhood but fell in love as time went by. We've been a couple for 2 years now and recently got engaged. We moved in together just a few months ago.

"Here love. I made some earl grey. Breakfast is almost ready." She says with a smile. "How are things at the station?"

"Nothing much has happened since Another prostitutes body was found in Whitechapel. But they think a serial killer could be on the loose." I said sighing.

"Oh no that's frightening! Are you working on that case?" She said with a scared face.

"Metropolitan police wants us to stay out of it for now but it's only a matter of time when they'll need us. I really wanna get on this case, all they're having me do so far is investigate gangs." I said

"That's great though! I mean you investigated and busted a gang all on your own a month ago so you're getting things done!" She said enthusiastically. "I know you wanna be respected by everyone but give it some time."

"Its not time that I need it's my big break. Something everyone will see in the paper and admire. 'Detective Louis Tomlinson cracks the case and arrests the Whitechapel killer'. That's what I want." I said

"It'll happen soon sweetie" she says.

Carolina sets the food in the table. She toasted English muffins and put cheese, bacon, and ham on it. She put a bowl of sliced oranges in the middle of the table. We both enjoy breakfast together.

"Breakfast was amazing thank you. I have to get going to the station so I'll see you later" i said hugging her goodbye.

I leave home and head to the station. As I make my way there I'm greeted by all our neighborhood.

"Hi detective" Sarah winked. She's one of the four sisters that live in a cottage by our home. "Heading to work i see. A strong handsome man like you must be catching criminals all day."

" Hello sarah. Lovely seeing you. " I said smiling

Her other sisters must've known i was here all three coming out of their house in unison.

"Louis!" All three say happily and crowd around me. One of them clings to my arm. " How are you? " she says grinning at me.

"I'm fine thank you. I hope you are doing fine as well. I should be going." I say and stare at her arm around mine.

" Alright bye! " she says letting me go. I walk away and wave goodbye to them.

I reach the station and head to my desk. I'm greeted with stacks of papers. None of them being an invite to investigate in Whitechapel.

"Tommo" says my workmate Harry. "Woah look at that load." He pats the papers on my desk.

"I'll be filing papers all day." I said face palming myself. " I've been working here for a year Harry and all I do is paper work and arrest gangs. "

" Ah louis! " he says slapping my shoulder. "I know you're a genius and so does everyone else. If you weren't busting gangs you'd be investigating petty thief or finding cats like the new guys."

" Consider myself lucky then? " I said not amused

Harry just nods and heads off to his desk. I spend the whole day doing paperwork. I'm exhausted and ready to go home. I gather my things and head home. When I arrive Carolina has dinner ready and we eat. We both get ready for bed and sleep.

*ring ring ring*

I wake up to our telephone ringing. I check the time. 4 am you've got to be kidding me. I walk to the wall and answer the phone.

"Louis Tomlinson speaking who is it?" I say groggy

" Metropolitan police called. It's time Louis. " says Harry

Every part of my body was filled with joy and i jumped up and pumped a fist in the air.

"Well well well" i said smirking
