We got in the carriage and headed to Whitechapel. We arrive at Dutfield's Yard and go to see the body of Elizabeth Stride.
"Detective Reid" a man said as we approached the crime scene.
"This is Louis Tomlinson a detective from City of London Police. He's gonna be investigating along side us." Reid said
"Nice to meet you" I said
"Same here" the man said and we shook hands.
I started investigating the scene. Strides throat had been slit with one clear cut incision which severed her main artery on the left side of her neck. This is all I really notice about her body.
"Their is no mutilations to her abdomen detective reid. Previous murders like Annie Chapman , Her stomach was sliced open and her uterus taken out. Mary Ann Nichols lower stomach was cut open by a deep jagged wound. All the women had abdomen and throat injury" I stated
" You're quite right. We theorize that this is not a ripper murder. " Detective Reid says
"That could be true. Or maybe he was interrupted. He could have been in the middle of his process but didn't finish ." I say pondering. " He could've been caught in the act or something. We should go look for witnesses "
"Already on it Tomlinson. Let's join the rest of the detectives and find witnesses." Detective Reid says.
We ask around and get information from witnesses. Some witnesses say they saw Elizabeth with a man earlier that night but all of them seem to have different descriptions. Some of them said that her was fair others say he was dark. Some said his appearance was shabby others say he was well dressed.
"Elizabeth lived at the lodging house at 32 flower and Dean street , Spitalfields... I spoke with the watchmen there and he said he saw her leave at 7pm" I say " everything is all over the place. Can't we just get the story straight? "
"It's been a long day Louis go home you've done enough." Detective Reid says
I check my watch. He's right it's 5pm. We've been out since 4am. I should get home soon or Carolina will worry.
"I should get going I'll look into things more and try to come up with more ideas." I say
" You did well see you tomorrow. " Detective reid says
I'm about to go to the carriage when I see a young lady not too far from the crime scene staring at the body. She had a scary look on her face like she wanted to gauge someone's eyes out. We made eye contact and her face softened. She was quite beautiful. She had dark ginger/red hair cut into a medium bob and had red lipstick on. But she was wearing black clothes, a coat and leather trousers. It was strange. Mostly all women in England wear a corset dress. I walk up to her curious.
"Hello miss." I say
" Hello" she said
"I'm Louis Tomlinson. I'm a Detective from City of London police. " I say. Holding my hand out in front of me.
" Amelia Clarke. It's a pleasure to meet you detective. " she says putting her hand on mine and I kiss the top of it.
"The pleasure is all mine. May I ask what you're doing here? It's quite an unpleasant thing to see " I say
"Oh please this is Whitechapel full of crime and poverty. It's nothing too out of the ordinary." She says smirking
" You don't appear to be from around here. " I say
"I'm from City of London. But I do work here sometimes. My father works for the newspaper back in City of London . " She says. "Well anyway I was just passing by"
"You looked really angry before. Did you know Elizabeth?" I ask
" I met her once. She's a friend of a friend. I didn't know much about her besides the fact that she was a prostitute. But she was different. " she says with a sullen look on her face.
"No one should have to go through what these women went through." I say
"It's unfortunate. The world we live in. Bad people who do bad things and the good suffer because of it." She says
" That's what I'm here for. To make those people accountable for their crimes. "I say
" I wish you luck" she says
"That's an interesting attire your wearing" I say
"Oh you've never seen a girl wear black trousers before?" She says
I shake my head.
"Neither have i" she grins "I don't fancy dresses. They're heavy and corsets are awfully uncomfortable."
I laugh. " I wouldn't know but I'll take your word for it. It's getting late you should head home. There's room in the carriage. "
"That's alright thank you though. You have a nice night, detective." She says and starts walking away.
" Are you sure? It's not safe Amelia it's almost dark out. I insist on taking you home. " I say concerned. Whitechapel is scary I've seen 3 fights just today and the place is filthy.
She turns around smiling. "I'll be quite alright detective. I can handle myself."
" Alright goodbye Miss Clarke. " I say
I take the carriage and make it home. I open the door and see Carolina.
"Louis you're home! You've been gone so long are you alright?" She says taking my coat.
" Its been a long harsh day. " I say exhausted
" I'll make dinner quickly. Tell me all about it" she says
Carolina makes dinner and i tell her all about the bodies found and Jack the ripper.
"That's horrible. One here in the city of london. So scary , those poor women." She's says wiping a tear.
" I'm tired of talking about this I want some rest. " I say
