Rookie Detective

Chapter 5

I spent the next three days researching and investigating the ripper case alongside Detective Reid and Harry. We spent most of our time reading letters being sent by people claiming to be the Whitechapel murderer. None of them make sense and are wasting our time. It's like people have nothing better to do but make our job harder. My boss thought it would be important for me to get some rest since its been so chaotic this week so he gave me the weekend off. Carolina wants to go to the Victoria and Albert museum so that's where we're going today.

"I'm so excited! I've always wanted to go there Louis! I heard they're showing a drama based on early Victorian London." Carolina says

" I'm sure it will be amazing . Especially because I get to spend it with such a lovely lady. " I said and kissed her. Out of nowhere there's a loud knock on the door. Carolina stands up to get it. "Wait I'll answer it"

I walk up to the door and look through the peephole but it's dark like someones blocking it. I gesture for Carolina to go in the room just in case. I open the door and a person launches at me. I quickly move and grab the person's arm and twist it behind their back.

"Ow ow ow!!! Tommo it's me!" Harry yells

" You've got to be kidding me you bloody idiot! I thought you were a robber! " I said letting him go but slapping the back of his head.

"I thought it would be funny to surprise you but I guess not" he said rubbing his head.

"What are you doing here?" I ask

" Well guess who got the weekend off as well? I thought we could play football at the park. " Harry says

"No no no we are going to the Victoria and Albert museum today! You are not playing football!" Carolina says coming out of the room

" Guess I should've called. " Harry says

"How about you come with us Harry? The more the merrier." I say

" Crashing our date. " Carolina said tapping her foot and crossing her arms. She sighs heavily. "It's fine Harry you should come. I'm sure the aquatic circus across the street from the museum will meet your fancy."

" That sounds amazing let's go! I'm gonna borrow a coat Lou. " says Harry

We take a carriage and arrive at the museum. I've been here a few times as a child. My mother would take me while father was working. I've always enjoyed the art and architecture of this place.

"It's truly exquisite." Carolina says linking arms with me.

"Oh look at this! It's dated 1850 it's an old painting. It's so beautiful." Harry says

It was beautiful. It was a landscape full of green grass ,trees and tall mountains. The sky was a dark orange color like a sunset.

"Louis look at this! All the little children playing." Carolina said pointing to the next painting.

" Maybe you and Carolina will have that many children one day. " Harry said winking

"Harry!" Carolina says blushing and slaps Harry's arm. " We aren't even married yet"

"And plus there's at least 10 children in that painting. Way to many. " I say

"Speaking of marriage when are you two gonna tie the knot?" Harry says

" Louis is so busy I fear we will never court. " Carolina says pouting.

"Of course we'll get married love" I said "But after we catch Jack the ripper."

" And here I thought I would go one day without hearing that name. Our union should be just as important as catching that fiend." Carolina said annoyed unlinking her arm from mine and stomping away from us. "I'm gonna see the circus!"

"You've gone and upset her Tommo." Harry says shaking his head at me

" let's just go see the circus. " I say sighing

We catch up with Carolina and watch the aquatic circus. It was quite entertaining despite the fact that all three of us got soaked but the performers. We walk around and start walking to the theatre hall where they're showing the drama. On the way we see jugglers.

"Oh! Oh!" Harry says. He runs up with them and says something. The man gives Harry the balls he was juggling . "Ready guys watch this!" He starts juggling .

"Wow! That's amazing harry!" Carolina says clapping

" I had no idea you could juggle harry. " I said clapping as well

"I've been waiting for someone to ask but no one has." Harry said

It was impressive. He was juggling 6 balls by himself.

"You should join the circus Harry i think you're made for it" I said laughing

"That's brilliant Louis why haven't i thought of that!" Harry says grinning . He gives the juggler back his things and we go to watch the drama.

"Waaaah it's so beautiful." Carolina says.

They're showing fashion from early 1800's london. Carolina always had a passion for clothes. She's made a few of her own dresses.

"It would be great if you made dresses like that" I say

The show finishes up and we get in the carriage to leave.

"What a day!" Harry says leaning back stretching.

"I'm glad we went out today Louis. It was truly a wonderful day." Carolina says leaning her head on my shoulder.

" I hope you know you are really important to me. Things have been so busy at work. I'm sorry if I've been neglecting you. " I say

"It's alright lou. I know how much this means to you. I'm sorry for overreacting before." She says

" Aw so sweet" Harry says

"Oh I forgot you were here harry." Carolina says laughing

" Thanks Carolina. Thanks. " Harry says
