Chapter 5 Ryan's P.O.V

I woke up with the sun shining through the windows and remembered today was my 17th birthday.Today was the day I would be the start of finding my mate.i started to think of what my mate would look like and Essie pops into my head every time.My beautiful Essie.Ive loved Essie since i was fourteen that day we were downtown at jessie's ice cream shop.What is Essie turned out to not be my mate...what if she was.what would happen to us.Essie's is a part of me always has been always will be.Essie's makes up who I am.

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by my four yr old little sister April and parents coming into my room holding a cake and singing happy birthday.I smiled and made a wish then blew the candles out.I picked up the struggling April that was trying to climb on the bed and put her next to me.

"wha you wif for?" April asked me.

"well that's a secret"I whisper into her ear and start tickling then stopped to put her onto my lap.

"so you ready to find your mate son?" my dad ask me.

"yeah"

male wolfs usually find their mate ages 17-23.but most find them at 17 or 18 years of age.

"OK well get ready for school.come on April."my mom says and walks with April out the room and my father not far behind.

"after i get ready and grab my bag i head downstairs and grab a pop tart.

"have a good day at school." my mom says.I walk out to my car and get in then make my way towards Albany high.

after I arrive to school I look at me watch.I have 5 min.to get to class.I look around the parking lot and see grant and the others but no Essie.

"hey do you know where Essie is?" i say once I reach them.I get a chorus of happy birthdays before Ashley answers my question.

"yeah she went to her locker to drop off some things and to get her schedule."

"OK thanks" i say and run off to find her.I get stopped by many people that say happy birthday to me but i quickly say thanks and move on.

as I round a corner and am instantly hit by the most addicting and sweet smell of vanilla and Cinnamon.I keep walking not watching whee I'm going and bump into someone and they fall down.I help up the girl i bumped into.shocks spread throughout my body.

"sorry"says the girl.She has the most angelic voice Ive ever heard.MATE my wolf screams.I try to get a look at the girl but cant she has her head bent down and her hair is fallen over her face.the voice i had heard sounded very familiar but i couldn't pinpoint it.I look back down at the girl to see she has her head up now.i look into her eyes of my "mate" and see its Essie.oh thank god.

Essie is one of the hottest girl at our school but she doesn't see it.guys are always ta;king about her in the locker rooms.I'm so glad shes all mine now.I can see in her eyes shes panicking.oh no.She runs away before i can say something.i take off after her.god shes fast .I finally reach the parking lot where she had just exited to a few moments ago.I do a quick scan of the parking lot and see her running into the forest.I run across the parking lot ignoring the strange looks and stares from people who are hurrying to get to class before the bell rings.The school is an all wear wolf school.My grandfather had build it when my dad was in 8th grade so him and others wouldn't have to go to a school full of humans and constantly worrying about someone shifting in front of one.the only exception for human being able to be in this school is if the human is a mate of the werewolf.

I stop to catch her sent.I had finally caught up to her I thought.But her sent had soon disappeared after i started running.I stopped and looked up to see a our childhood tree house.i breathe out a sigh of relive that I'm done chasing.now its time to start talking.I climb up the ladder that is made out of blocks of wood nailed into the tree.As I climb in she looks over to see who had entered.I walk over and sit beside her.

"Why did you run" I ask

"I don't know" She said,her voice cracking and a tear dripping down her face."I thought you were going to reject me."she says.I cant believe she thought I Ryan Watson was going to reject her.

"Reject you?I could never reject you Essie.Your the most beautiful girl I've ever set my eyes on." i say as i pull her into me and hug her tightly.

"Essie" i say

"yes"

"i have loved you ever since i was 14.The day we were downtown at jessi's ice cream shop and we sat down at the booth in the corner by the door.You had your hair in a pony tail with a pink ribbon tied into it and a pink sundress on.you had went to lick your ice cream and some kid walked by and bumped into your shoulder and your face went into the ice cream.I thought you looked so cute at that moment." i tell her

"Really?" she says sniffling

"yeah"

"so you don't reject me?"

"no never.....I love you" I say without any hesitation. I saw she had stopped breathing for a moment.oh no was it to soon.

"are you OK?" I ask

"yeah......I love you too Ryan"she says as she looks into my eyes,god shes killing me.

I pull her against me so close that there isn't an inch of space left between us.our foreheads meet and as we lean into each other to kiss..Sparks fly instantly as her soft lips meet mine.I deepen the kiss and after a while we pull away gasping for air.her kiss,touch,laugh,everything about her is like a drug to me.

"that was..."she says

"Amazing."I fill in

we sat inside the tree house for who knows how long and talked about our future,family,Friends.As the sun set the moon came out and flooded the place with darkness all around us except the light from the moon shining in the tree house.we kept on talking though.How would our family take us being mates but as we continued to talk I learned that i really didn't care what they thought about us.The only thing i cared about was Essie and only Essie.i watched Essie as she talked and talked.I couldn't stop staring at her beautiful face.One thing ran through my mind right then and i smiled at it,I'm in love with Essie Jackson.
