"If you want to lift yourself up, lift someone else."

- Booker T. Washington

~~~~~~~~
The day went on with what was planned already for the day. The only difference was the atmosphere. It was still quite sad and uncomfortable. Once the bell had sounded for the last time that day, we started to file out. Each student went up to me one by one when they were dismissed to give me encouragement, comfort, and a smile. I'm glad that I got to know them. They give me so much to look foward to each day of my depleting life. The last three to leave consisted of Midoriya, Bokugou, and Todoroki.
They all came up to me as a group. A small smile on each of their faces, even Shoto's. It made me feel warm inside. We said our goodbyes and comments before it was my time to leave as well. My father stood me up and lead me to the door. As we start walking my legs give out. My father panics and holds onto me.
"(Y/n)! Are you alright?"
"I'm... fine... my legs... just gave out... I'll be fine..."
"Just for safe measures, I'm going to carry you."
"Please... I want to walk... I need to be strong like all of you..."
*Sigh* "Fine, but I'm going to hold onto you firmer and hold you up a bit."
"Thank you..."
And with that we walked out of the room. We both walk down the hallway and head out of the campus. Both unaware that the three boys from earlier had heard what happened.
-At Home-
My father carries me up the stairs into my room. He lays me down on my bed and helps me get set up with my oxygen tank. I feel sleep overwhelm my weakened body.
"If you need anything, just call out for me... I'll be next door." My father states staring at me with worry. I just smile up at him.
"It's going to be okay father... I will be stronger... Like you and mom... One day... I'll be a hero, just like... we all wanted..."
My father smiles slightly. "If it helps a little... I think I should tell you that you are already a hero... In the eyes of your friends and mine... You are stronger than anyone I know... You really are just like your mother..."
I smile at his comment. Sleep soon takes over and I pass out.
-Early Morning-
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! IT HURTS! FATHER! HELP! FATHER!"
An enormous emount of pain if felt on the left side of my chest. It's hard to breathe. Panic takes over as I scream out for help. I see my father burst into my room, phone at hand. He rushes next to me and holds my hand. His eyes are wide with fear and tries to calm me.
"I called the doctor! He'll be here soon! It'll be ok! You're going to be ok!"
He kept at his attempts to calm me while I screamed in pain. In a matter of minutes the doctor rushes in with a group of surgeons. They rush my father out and shoot a painkiller through my body. Then they shot another substance in that knocked me out.
-After the Operation-
I woke up and looked at the clock next to my bed. It was 4:00 pm now. When I had awoke in pain, it was 5:15 am. 'What happened to me?' I weakly turn my head to where my right arm lay. An needle was taped to my arm. It was attached to a dripping IV bag. I reach my left arm to my face and feel that I am still hooked up to my oxygen. Looking to the door in front of my bed, it opens slowly. The doctor and my father walk in.
"Ah, you're awake! That's a relief... " the doctor states seeing my open eyes.
"What... what happened... to me?" I question as I try to sit up. This effort went to waste as I wince in pain and lay back down.
"Please don't get up. Your going to need to rest for a couple days. What happened was do to your illness. Your bones are starting to weaken and deteriorate. Two of your left ribs had broke and one of them punctured your left lung. Thank goodness your father had called us when he did. We were able to patch up your lung and fix your ribs. Unfortunately, this caused three drawbacks. The first is that your going to be on oxygen 24/7 now. We ordered an oxygen device for you that is small, makes constant oxygen, and it's easy to carry around. The second is that if you start walking again, it's going to be extremely painful. You're going to have to use a wheel chair, which is arriving as we speak. The last is that it has... well... it's shortened your life by a month. So not only do you have to not use your quirk, but you have an even shorter life span... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..." The doctor trails off in a depressed manor. "I'll leave you two alone now... have a nice day..." And with that, he left.
My father and I stare at each other in pure silence. He walked up to me and got on his knees beside my bad. Holding my right hand, being careful of the IV, he whispered to me.
"I'm so sorry... I never wanted you to go through something like this... I wanted to do everything I could to help you but... I don't know what to do... I'm so sorry...."
I weakly move my hand from his and put it up to his weeping face. My hand now rests on his left cheek. I smile up at him.
"There wasn't anything you could do.... So don't feel bad... I saw how... you tried... and you even... brought me to a school.. for heroes... It was my dream to go.... to that school... thank you... for everything... if I die... I want you to stay strong... I need you to be strong... please... do it for me... Tell everyone else... to stay strong too.... I'll be here for a while... you.... need to go and... teach my friends... Please... go back to school tomorrow..."
"But what about you? Are you going to be alright by yourself?"
I nod weakly and remove my hand from his face. I turn to look at the ceiling and smile. My hand now back in his. I close my eyes and softly drift to sleep.
1 month and 4 days remain
