I found the main office & when I opened the door some short, black haired girl slammed into me. I stumbled back grabbing my now sore boobs and yanked my headphones out. "Ow?", was all I could say before she started apologizing and walked away. Yeah, I'm fine, thanks for asking! God damn, do these people have no respect?
I finally got into the office, safely this time. The woman at the desk asked for my information and handed me my schedule. opening it as I walked out I noticed I was placed in all gen ed classes, dance (thank God), and choir (oh fuck). I sing in the shower not in a room full of judgmental people. Whatever, I just need to find the first class and go find each one after that.
Someone really hated children when they set this campus up.
One building had three sections of subjects and the other building right next to it had four other subjects with corresponding hallways. Luckily, my schedule was made so I was in one building, go to lunch, go to dance, then choir, then finish off in the other building. Oh, and if you didn't catch that choir and dance were in a separate building, pay attention.
Pulling the door to my math class open, I waited a second for my song to end and then wrapped the cord around my neck. I don't wanna make a bad impression do I? Insert as much sarcasm humanly possible into that statement.
"Hello? Mr...," I looked at my paper and tried to pronounce his last name, "Well-pi-sh?"
He took pity on me, " It's Welp- ish. Like 'well' with a 'p' at the end and 'ish', kinda like 'noonish'." I liked this guy already and he had Iron Maiden playing from the laptop on his desk. "What can I do for you? The terrible first day back doesn't start for another," Mr. Welpish looked at his arm that had no watch, "Oh, about 20 minutes."
"I'm new," I held up the shiny new folder along with my schedule.
"Ah, you don't want to sit out there and look weird alone? You came here to figure out where you will spend the last semester every morning? Smart," Mr. Welpish stood, walked over to me and held his hand out for me to shake, "Welcome kid."
I shook his hand and gave him my schedule so I didn't have to go through the terrible 'Who are you? Do you need any help finding your classes?' bullshit I go through. Mr. Welpish motioned for me to sit down and went back to his desk. He was so chill. Yeah, I might actually try to get an 'A' in his class. I repeat, try. I have a family reputation to uphold.
I pulled my phone out, pulled my headphones off my neck, and sent my parents a 'got to school safe and found my classes. Ily.' text. When I opened my music player I felt the little buzz from a kik. I bet it was my most recent ex, he really was such a sweetheart. Pity I couldn't stay and have little punk rock kids with him.
The text read 'Hey beautiful! The group misses you. I hope that new school has a ton of cool people so you're not alone. I really miss you. Text me at your lunch and we can facetime. I'm out.' I sent back a quick 'Okay talk more then. XO. Out.' and turned on some Crown the Empire. I sat there for about 15 more minutes before the door opened.
"Hey kid," Mr. Welpish called to me, " You need to move out of those desks until I can find an open one for you. Come sit at my desk."
I stood up and moved around the talking people coming in and finding their seats. My music was too loud so I turned it down and removed one headphone. I watched people walk in, not noticing me and then I locked eyes with a familiar face.
The girl from this morning was looking at me and awkwardly waving. Before I returned the wave I looked at her outfit: Of Mice & Men tank, striped matching leggings, combat boots and her face had just the right amount of makeup to draw you in. Wow, she was beautiful. I wonder what other bands she listened to. She removed her headphones and sat down in her desk. I had to look away before I was labeled a creep.
The bell rang and the class suddenly got very quiet and all the students were sitting. I gotta give it to the teacher, he might be chill as fuck, but he had all of these students whipped.
"Greetings. As you all know we are at school. That means work." The class lamely groaned. "But! I think you all need to review the sections 1-6 before we move on. I want groups of 6 in T minus 10..."
The class grabbed their stuff and desks started grinding on the floor. I wonder what group I will be placed in.
