I looked up & looked around to figure out who said that. It was a failed attempt because none of them continued on, they just stared.
"Uh, Jesus? Was that you?" I looked up & smiled.
A few of them laughed & one guy answered, " Yes my child!", in a very deep voice. I looked at him & he just winked, then returned to working on the packet.
"You're funny. I'm Hailey, I ran into you this morning. I'm sorry about that... ", the girl with long black hair said.
Hmm, Hailey? She looks like a Hailey. Since she was looking right at me, I finally got a good look at her face.
Her eyes.
That's all I was really looking at. Oh my god. They were this chilling gray with little blue flecks. She had them lined with black eyeliner & a really light gray eye shadow. I was staring & for once I didn't care. Her eyes had me hypnotized.
"Yeah, they are gray. They help me get bitches." She laughed & batted her eye lashes.
"Sorry, just I have never liked someones eyes so much!" I just kept staring.
"Ha, looks like it's true Hay Hay. You do get all the bitches with them!" the guy who winked at me said & nudged Hailey.
"Whatever Sammy Boy, You're just jealous the new girl is staring at me & not your spray on tan!" Hailey smirked & winked at me.
Why the fuck was everyone winking?! Do they all "party" too much & end up with a crack twitch? Jesus. Every time someone winks at me, I blush this ugly color. I need to just keep my head down & do this packet.
Hailey leaned in & whispered in my ear, "Join us for lunch. We will find you. Congrats, you're one of us now."
I looked up & everyone was smiling at me. I half smiled, half looked creeped out. Well, now I can put in my music & work. Since now that they were done with their weird cult initiation.
Around 20 minutes later the kid i'm guess is named Sam nudged me & nodded towards the clock. The bell was about to ring & everyone was packing up. I pulled out my headphones, murmured a "Thanks", & packed up a few papers into my folder. I guess math class is pretty simple? I didn't even wanna get up & leave half way through.
The annoying bell rang. I hung back so I could figure out the class I was heading to. Leave the class, turn left, another left, straight down the 400 hall to the last door on the right. Seems simple enough!
I stepped out into the hall & yet again, slammed into someone. Oh my. Now my head hurt.
"Oh shit. Two times in one day? What the fuck?! First my tits, now my head?!" I was crouched down, grabbing my books.
"Someone's pissy. I've never hesitated saying sorry for running into someone, until now." A deep voice said. He sighed & said, "here, I'll help you as long as you don't yell at me again."
"It's fine..." I lost my voice when I looked up.
By no means am I a girl that swoons to a good looking guy, but damn. I might need to reassess that. He has to know he's good looking! If he didn't, he would either be blind or lacking any --- if not all --- self esteem.
He held out his hand to help me up & I gladly took it. "Thanks, I'm Veranyca, sorry for yelling at you. I am new here & it's hard... adjusting to how you guys act here." I stumbled over my words more than a crack addict talking to the police.
"Oh, that makes sense! Well I would stay & chat but the bell 's gonna ring, not all of us can use the 'I'm new, I didn't know!' line anymore." He turned & jogged away.
Wait! What was his name?! Ugh, damn. At least he didn't wink at me! I hope I see him again. Next time I will be prepared for his good looks. I know I will.
