Gabbie POV

Beth is sitting on the edge of the couch, staring at the screen like it's about to give her free food. "We're about to get to my favorite line!" she exclaimed. Then, out of nowhere, she copied the blonde chick Patterson and declared, "In my head, where Math is done. Please don't interrupt." She pumped her fist. "Yeah! Go Patterson!" she exclaimed. It was good to see her happy after all she's been through. But little did I know that smile was going to turn into a frown really soon.

Someone knocked on the door, interrupting Season 1 Episode 12: Scientists Hollow Fortune of Blindspot. She got me hooked. I got up, and opened the door. There was David, camera in hand, with Liza standing next to him, holding a pizza. "Surprise!" David yelled, "we got some pizza!"
I turned around as if asking Beth if that was ok, and she shrugged her shoulders. "No camera though," she requested. "Who's that?" Liza asked. "I adopted her," I answered, "her name's Beth." Beth got up and said, "Didn't you say something about pizza? I'm hungry." "Then let's eat!" David announced.
We all walked over to the table. "Do you have veggie?" Beth asked. David looked confused and said, "No, we just have cheese and pepperoni." Her face fell. "Oh, ok," she said dejectedly, "I guess I'll have pepperoni then."
I realized that David never turned off his camera. It was still recording!

Beth POV

"Turn off your camera, for real this time," Gabbie demanded. I looked up from my pizza to see David press the off button. Why was he still recording? For views? I glared at him, and then went back to eating my pizza. But then the questions started. "What happened to your parents?" he asked. I stared at him straight in the eyes and said, "I don't want to talk about it." Then my new cropped hoodie's sleeve slipped, and Gabbie's eyes widened. "What is that?" she asked. I quickly pulled it down and David went, "Ooh, drama." I glared at him, but then my eyes welled up with tears. I sobbed my little heart out, and barely managed to say, "Jaz." David and Liza had confused expressions on their faces. "Music did that to you?" Liza said. "There was this mean girl at the orphanage. She tortured her. She was a sociopath," Gabbie explained. I nodded my head, said "Get out of my house," and went to my room to watch YouTube in private.

Gabbie POV

Oh my god. Jaz cut her. She harmed her. And not just mentally, but physically. I saw David and Liza get up. "We're just going to go now," David said as they left the apartment. I had to fix this. That's what mothers do, right?
I went to her room, and slowly opened the door. "Go away," she demanded. I went inside and sat down next to her anyways. "She won't hurt you ever again," I promised, "I'll always protect you." Beth rested her head on my shoulder and sobbed her heart out. I wrapped my arms around her in a hug and said, "Can I see them? I think we need to show a doctor."
She rolled up both of her sleeves to expose big, long cuts, one on each arm. They looked raw, like they had been rubbed and scratched so many times. "Let's go to the doctor, ok?" I said, "maybe they'll heal." She slowed her sobbing and nodded. Maybe I'm actually meant to be a good mother. "Can we go tomorrow?" she asked. "Sure," I answered, "sure." She fell asleep in my arms.
