The newcomer landed the double salchow perfectly, making the crowd roar with excitement. This was the final completion to decide who would be attending the Grand Prix Final that was going taking place in California this year. There were only three spots left.
Leo de la Igesia watched the new skater on the ice, a complete look of awe on his face but a tinge of jealousy in his heart. This newcomer was extremely good and could actually take gold at this competion. It would completely surprise America to see a new person representing the country at the Grand Prix.
The music slowed, becoming softer and slowly fading. The skater's moves seemed to match the music perfectly. His sea green eyes held a soft look. They looked like the calm waters of the ocean. His long shaggy black hair was tied in a pony tail, little bits of his bangs hanging out and framing his natural beach tanned skin. His once buff build was now strong and lanky looking which was due to the excessive amount of ballet training and ice skating he did.
He spiralled into the the centre of the rink, slowly coming to a stop. His right hand was placed gracefully over his heart while is left leg was set behind his right leg. His gaze was focused on the ice below him. His breathing was rapid and heavy but nevertheless he was smiling like an idiot. The little silver studs on his black waist coat rhat hung open on a light blue blouse seemed to shimmer under the greenish blue light. The loose strands of his bangs were stuck to his cheeks with sweat. His feet were slightly shaky and his body was tired and needed a soak in a nice hot bath.
He crowd was amazed and cheered so loud he could barely hear himself think. He took a gracious bow and skated towards his coach, Yakov Feltsmen, a Russian coach who took him under his wing three years ago. Yakov stood with his wife Lilia (who was also the skaters' ballet teacher) and his other team mates and close friends Viktor Nikiforov, Yuri Plisetsky and Yuri Katsuki. Yakov and Lilia divorced many years ago but got back together. Viktor was too old to skate, being 31, so he coached Katsuki. Plisetsky looked much younger than him but was only two years younger.
Yakov gave skater a pat on the back after he had put his blade guards on as they walked to the kiss and cry. Yakov sighed as he sat down and looked at the skater as he sat down. The old man let the side of his mouth quirk up.
"Perseus Jackson has received an out standing score! 254.98! He has taken first place!"
Percy's face lit up with happiness and looked at his coach. Yakov chuckled at the look on his student's face and ruffled the young man's hair. This was Percy's highest score and he was absolutely proud. Happiness and excitement bubbled inside of him. He knew his mother would be absolutely ecstatic about it and bake enough cookies to feed the whole of Russia.
She wasn't able to come to this competition even though it was in Manhattan. The reason why she couldn't make it was because she was studying for the test that would determine if she would be able to go to university and get her degree in English and literature. Sally wanted to come but Percy told her that she needed to study and that she could watch on TV. Percy loved his mom, yes, but he wanted her to do something for herself once in a while since she was always sacrificing so much for everyone else.
Percy and Yakov got up and made their way to his friends and teacher. One their way over a reporter looking girl stopped them. She looked Native American with a short pixie cut which was a bit longer on the top. She had sky blue eyes and a pointed, upturned nose. She wore a white buttoned up shirt with the top two buttons open with a dark grey pencil skirt which wasn't too tight or too loose on her slender, fragile figure. She looked at him with a kind smile and had playfulness and joy in her eyes. She was obviously still a teen. But she looked familiar.
"Hi Perseus!," she exclaimed excitedly.
"Hi," he greeted politely. "And please call me Percy."
"Okay. So I know you have your own life to attend to but I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions?" She asked. Percy nodded and smiled at her. She grinned back and turned around to take out her notepad and pen from her white backpack that had what looked like a Slytherin keychain hanging from it.
As she was taking out her stuff , Percy turned to Yakov and said,"Why don't you go to the back with the others. I'll be there in a few minutes."
"Sure thing Jackson," said Yakov with a slight chuckle in English. Since Percy moved to Russia when he started training he was determined to learn Russian. Yurio had a good time teaching him all the special Russian words aka Russian swear words. Percy only came to America for breaks between seasons or for competions.
"Thanks Yakov," Percy said. His coach nodded and strides over to the others. He saw them talk and then walk away. When she looked back at the girl she now had choppy hair and wore jeans and a shirt he never thought he would see again. She had a dagger in her hand which was pointed at Percy. No doubt the mist made it look like a pen or something that wasn't dangerous. Her eyes were no longer sky blue but a Kaliedascope of different colours. The teen was now replaced with Piper McLean. Someone he thought he'd never see again.
His eyes widened with shock as he looked at her. She no longer looked like a romance craving girl. She looked like a well trained solider prepared for battle. The once slender and fragile frame was replaced with a strong build. "Piper? What are you doing here?"
"Could have asked you the same thing but right now you need to come with us," said a voice behind him. Behind him stood the rest of the seven and Nico. He looked at them all and a little surprised at how much they changed.
"Why?"
"We need your help."
