Izzie's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been half an hour since I had left the beach. However, I don't think anything was going to stop the bubbly feeling inside my chest. I forced myself to push it away, but, somehow a part of it stayed.
"Right! Lets go!" My parents said in unison, then laughed at each other in a sickly sweet manner
I groaned at them in disgust, I can't stand all that 'Lovey Dovey' stuff. I slowly stretched and paced outside of the door. Knowing my luck, I whipped my head around the corner to see if by any coincidence Noah was there. But, he was nowhere to be seen so, sighing, I quickly jogged up to my family that were racing ahead of me. When I caught up with them, I took out my phone and started going through my snapchat stories. But, I suddenly became alarmed when I heard my mum shouting for some reason. I rapidly lifted my head to see that, in fact, she was laughing with a person I had never seen before; it was just a random woman. I slowly stepped towards them, cautious, but they didn't seem to take any notice of me. Huffing due to the lack of explanation, I went back onto my social media's, chuckling at a few funny posts here and now. It had only been a minute, the adults were still chatting. I shoved my phone back in my pocket and turned on my heel to face a flock of palm trees only to see myself almost bumping into someone.
"I'm so sorry!" I yelped. And, as I stepped backwards, my eyes focused and I saw myself in front of a chuckling Noah. My hands drop to my side and my mouth gapes open.
"Why is it," He starts, still laughing, "that every time we meet were either making each other jump or knocking each other over?"
"I assume you'd be aware of how clumsy I am by now." I laughed, slightly taken aback by my own sudden surge of confidence.
"Hm, noted." He said.
He looked like we was considering something for a second before he shook himself down and grinned at me again. That's when I realised the sudden lack of nattering in my left ear and it seemed that my parents were done 'mingling'. That's when I sensed the other woman looking at me. I guess my mum realised as well because she ushered me towards her; I had to stifle the groan that was ready to escape my mouth.
"This is my daughter," my mum said, grinning a slightly too large smile, "Izzie."
I flashed a smile at this woman, almost forgetting that Noah was still here, fidgeting next to me. She shook my hand.
"Hello, Izzie, my name is Karine." I look up at her and smile. Then, I suddenly realise how much she resembled someone.. I turned my head to Noah then back to her then it clicked.
"Ohhhh." I gasped in realisation.
Karine looks slightly confused and laughed, not understanding what I meant. I mentally hit myself. Karine turned to my mum.
"Well, your daughter is absolutely beautiful," she started, making me blush, "no wonder Noah is so smitten with her!"
These words sent adrenaline shooting to my fingertips and I turned to Noah, shocked. However, that was overcome with slight amusement as I saw the colour from his face had drained and his eyes grew wide.
"Mum!" He stumbled, clearly mortified.
"Sorry, sorry!" She said, raising her hands in front of her.
"So, Karine," Said my Mum, "where are you going to dinner?"
"Just up there!" She stated in a bubbly manner, pointing to the building a couple of hundred yards away from us.
"Well!" My Mum exclaimed, "how about that! We're eating there as well!"
Karine smiled, "let's go together!"
Still comprehending the conversation that had taken place in front of me, I scuttled after everyone else who had been quickly walking away without me realising. Suddenly, I felt a hasty tap on my shoulder that had come out of nowhere and I turned around, shrieking, only to see a particularly amused Noah laughing so much that he seemed to be on the verge of tears. When he finally regained his composure he straightened himself down and took a deep breath, a hint of long-lasting amusement lingering in his mouth. However, I only gave him seconds to calm down before I punched him in his forearm, trying hard to stifle my laughter that was making its way up to my lips. Noah yelped and jumped away from me, rubbing his arm. I snorted slightly with laughter before giving him a small, content nod, and turning on my heel to walk back up the pavement. But, only seconds later, I heard feet pounding on the hard brick pavement a few meters behind me, so, desperately trying to avoid another heart attack I turned around and Noah skidded on his heel to stop in front of me. He was silent, too silent. And he had that gleam in mischief in his eye like a young child who was up to something...
"What are you planning?" I enquired, raising an eyebrow.
"Surprisingly, nothing." He began, "I was actually going to say.. before I got rudely interrupted by your brutal attack.."
He paused, and I waited for him to finish, tapping my foot on the ground; for some reason he found amusement in this.
"What?!" I asked.
"What I was going to say is that.. your shoelace is untied." He said, signalling to the foot I had been hastily tapping on the ground just moments ago. And, of course, only a brief moment later he bust out into a fit of laughter and ran ahead of me, catching up to our parents. Scowling, I bent down and roughly tied my shoelace up.
As we got taken to our tables, I kept hearing Noah chuckling in my ear. I looked at him, a mixture of irritance, boredom, confusion and slight amusement plastered on my face.
"What now?"
"Just thinking about my next prank." He chuckled, clapping his hands together. I scoffed and stared at him.
"You can try, but I'm too familiar with your ways now and anyway-"
However I was suddenly interrupted by Noah:
"Say tomato."
"What?!" I said, completely baffled by his sudden change in subject.
"Say it." He repeated simply.
"But-"
"Say it."
"Why do you-"
"Say it."
"We were just taking about-"
"Please say it."
I groaned and slammed my hands on the table which made him jump slightly. I looked at him, and, unsurprisingly, he still had that mischievous grin on his face, however, it may be the fatigue but I think I sensed a slight tinge of guilt in those big eyes of his.
Realising that I was getting nowhere, I gave in:
"Fine... tomato."
He started snickering, and an uncontrollable grin formed on my face.
"Why did you ask me to say that?" I laughed.
"I don't know.. I just love the way british people say that." He answered, still laughing slightly.
I sighed and shook my head:
"You're insane."
"No," he looked at me, amused, "I'm hungry."
Then, he unwillingly dragged me over to the buffet where we filled our plates with the most amazing food.
Twenty minutes later
"If I eat anymore, I think I might die." I groaned, clutching my stomach.
"I don't know what you're on about." Said Noah, a mouthful of chips making his voice muffled.
I watched a chip fall out of his mouth and onto the table and shook my head in amusement. And, after a lifetime, he finally swallowed and looked at me.
"What?" I asked.
"I'm bored."
"You're always bored."
"I'm mega-bored."
I grimaced, tired of this mischievous mood he was in.
"Well, what do you want to do?"
He pondered for a second before his eyes lit up.
"We could rent a movie from reception and watch it in the room!"
I smiled:
"Yeah that sounds like fun!"
And, just on cue, both of our mums returned to the table.
"Mum?" I asked, "would it be okay if me and Noah watched a film back at the room?"
My mother thought for a moment before giving me a smile:
"I don't see why not!"
"Yay!" I responded in glee.
So, me and Noah walked down to reception, him humming a catchy tune which I didn't recognise and me fiddling with a lose piece of thread on the hem of my dress. When we arrived, we asked the receptionist to see what movies they had so, she unlocked a door with a click and showed us a shelf which had an abundance of films on it. After a few minutes of looking, I gasped.
"What?" Said Noah.
I reached up and pulled out a rather dusty case and showed it to him. The cover read: Harry Potter and the philosophers stone.
"It's my favourite one!" We said at the same time before laughing and heading to the door, thanking the receptionist.
