Prologue

AN: Hi! This is just an explanation of the universe the characters live in.

The year 2000

The enemies appeared on earth without a warning. A violent earthquake shook the earth, ripping it apart. Creatures crawled out from the pits of the earth and destroyed the towns to the sound of human screams. They were unstoppable.

The year 2005

Major cities in untouched areas built large, impenetrable walls around themselves. Civilians were accepted into these safe zones and were kept safe from harm. Life was able to continue normally within the walls, but the states needed more people to join the military to fight the aliens.

As a means to motivate people to join, joining the military became an easy way to climb in status. If an individual achieved great things in the war against the aliens, they would be rewarded with medals, money and honor.

Social inequality quickly became rampant within the walls. The city was divided into five sections. Austin, which is where all the slums of the city were. Lawrence, a large section inhabited by the middle-class. Summit crest and Chapel Hill, where the upper class civilians lived. Finally, Rose Gardens. A gated district reserved for only the rich of the rich and the civilians who had achieved extraordinary military feats.

The year 2007

Post secondary institutions began to offer a major in Military Tactics. This major would educate students about the art of war and teach them the necessary skills to do well during a war. They would also have to spend 500 hours per school year in the training facility where they would be trained in combat and the use of the weapons of their choice. How ever, this major only accepted the best students as those who graduated with a great performance were immediately given high ranks in the military.

The year 2010

S.H.E.I.L.D is established and lead by Nick Fury. S.H.I.E.L.D recruited on the best of the best to form an elite team. This team would be divided in smaller sections and sent on missions past the walls. Working for them soon became one of the highest achievements for a soldier.

The year 2011

The Omega rights pact was adopted by the state. This encouraged omegas to join the military for positions other than traditional roles. This bill was met with resistance from several alphas but only served to show how gravely things were going outside the walls.
