Chapter 2
Dreamscape
17th July
'Daddy, daddy! My turn, my turn!'
'Shut up Dyana! You got your turn yesterday. Daddy, it's my turn,' Daniel squealed.
'Sweetheart, we both know that it's her turn. Come here, Dyana.'
'I knew it! You love her more than I, don't you,' Daniel pointed his tiny finger accusingly at daddy. 'I'm going to go tell mommy,' he cried and shot off in the opposite direction crying crocodile tears. He is such a crybaby. I cringed my nose in disgust at my twin's daft idiocy.
My father chuckled and picked my little 6-year-old self up with ease. Daniel was always such a lying idiot. Why is he even related to me?
We followed the little drama queen to our manor hidden in the woods. Daniel rushed off towards mom and started his lying marathon, 'Daddy took Dyana to the beach yesterday and they had a water splashing fight and they chased crabs and they caught fish and they-'
Daddy interrupted his little tale with a mischievous glint in his eyes, 'Sweetheart, if you want to chase crabs then we can go later today.'
'Eep! No way! They're scary and huge and they bit me yesterday.' Daniel pushed up his sleeves to show the claw mark on his little delicate hands. His face turned bright red when he realized his mistake and started screaming like a monkey and chased Daddy around the house. I was still sitting in his arms and I laughed with joy enjoying the ride.
'Daniel, you idiot! It is my turn to go to the beach,' I squealed. I put my tongue out at him and daddy grabbed the travel bag filled with towels and lunch and ran off to the beach leaving the whining crybaby behind.
Daniel and I were polar opposites except when it came to beaches. We loved the beach. We were crazy about it. Saturdays for Daniel and Sundays for me. He never took us together on the same day as we had to pass through a forest on the way.
Daddy put me down when we reached the end of the forest. I shot off towards the waves immediately. Daddy followed me into the water and we started a splashing competition. Whoever gets drenched first loses.
The beach was beautiful with trees on the shore and white sand filled with hidden treasures like seashells and pearls. Crabs and starfish lounged on the sand and turtles rolled in the waves.
'Come on Dyana, you can do it.'
Daddy won of course. With his large hands and big body, its impossible for me to win but I wasn't one to give up so easily. I tried my best. Daniel claimed that he beat Daddy once but I think he was lying. I don't think that that's even possible.
By noon my stomach started grumbling. I ignored it but apparently, it was louder than the sound of the crashing waves and daddy heard it. Traitorous growling stomach! Now I'll have to go back on land to eat. Not that I'm complaining about the food. I love food. It's just that I love the beach more. I'll come back for you my beloved!
After lunch, I started off to the beach but daddy stopped me saying that the sun was too bright! Whatever. I made a sandcastle instead. It was beautiful and I admired my creation for five seconds before running off to the waters again.
The sound of harps and trumpets filled the air. The music sounded distant as if it were coming from the forest and that's when I realized that I was dreaming. I was not on the beach. No. But I couldn't remember where I was. I looked around but daddy was no longer there. I let the dream world take me as always.
'A flame- a raging fire harboured within,' a beautiful choir started to sing.
I ran towards the voices singing a melodious tune. I walked into the forest through the trees drawn towards the angelic voices.
'Born restrained, kindled, caged
Burning through with red rage.'
My mind went completely blank. I had only one mission. Let the voices lead me.
'Burning the black sea to raging white'.
I tumbled over the thick roots and ducked under the branches still in my 6-year-old self. I had to reach those voices. It was getting dark as I made my way through the forest. I should be scared but I wasn't. Why is that? Right, cause this is a dream. But the voices were simply too beautiful to be earthly.
'Saviour of the seas
Warrior of thy kin'.
I saw a clearing among the trees. There was a small gathering of warriors each holding a gleaming sword, with wings sprouting from their backs. Some were playing the harp. They were all dressed in white as pure as snow. As I came closer the warriors started disappearing one by one into a white mist and then into oblivion. The singing didn't stop but the voices diminished as they left one at a time till finally, only one remained.
'Mortality obstinates
To dust, you too shall turn'
The last of them disappeared. I walked towards the harp and reached out to touch it but I stumbled into a ditch and the harp too disappeared into a white mist. The mist consumed me as I fell, opening wounds from gunshots and knives coating my body in my blood. A deep wound opened in my stomach and I cried out in pain. My body eroded to dust.
*-*
I woke up with a jolt and rolled off the wooden plank and fell into the sea blue water.
A/N: And that's chapter 2 people! Hope you enjoyed.
I know that I'm 2-3 months late. Hopefully, there will be regular updates for a while. I have a lot of draft chaps but I also have writer's block with a hint of laziness + school starts next week :(
I promise regular weekly chapters for about 2 months(more if I can eliminate that block).
Anyway,
Vote! Comment! Share!
Adios, my fellow adventurers!
Until chapter 3
