Evelyn awoke to the sound of a small branch tapping at her bedroom window carelessly. BAM. BAM. BAM. She began to get annoyed. She rubbed her cold dead eyes and opened her cracking window. She caught the branch as it was about to abuse the window once again and snapped it right in half. She scoffed and rolled her eyes back into her head.

She turned to face the mirror again, just like she had last night. She could see herself clearly now. Her eyes had bags under them, her hair was matted, her teeth disgustingly yellow, the scars on her arm burning her precious skin. She looked like a monster. She was a monster. She shook her head around in circles and grabbed her head with her two hands. She pulled out strands of loose hair in frustration and agitation.

Her mother, who woke up beautifully in the morning with her perfect blonde hair and white robe, came into her room cautiously.

"Um, Evelyn dear." She reaches her hand out to touch her daughters hand but Evelyn snapped her head around so quick that her mother stumbled back into the dresser. The room was silent for a minute. "I-I uh wanted to ask you if um maybe you wanted to stay home today..?" Her mother questioned. Evelyn looked at her mother, then her mothers hand. St. Suzette's Church and Hospital for children of impure nature and mental health issues. She had read enough of the pamphlet. She growled at her mother and took a threatening step forward. Her mother stepped out of her room and down the hall, she ran.

9:05 AM, School

Evelyn arrived at her boring school, with her boring classmates, who wore boring clothes just like her. She walked to history class with her hood on and a dead expression. As she passed everyone in the hall, she listened in on all of the conversations.
"James is super hot!" , "I know right?"
"Did you hear about Mr.Stenler? He eats Frogs!" , "Oh my god, ew!"
Everyone was boring.
Everything was boring.

1:37 PM, Gym Class

Where is he, where is he? He has to be here!
Evelyn thought for a while. She looked around the class, whipping her head in every direction she could turn. Her eyes searched the gym closet, the corners, the groups of people sitting on the stage, near the basketball nets, but he was nowhere.

Evelyn pulled her hoodie over her head and sat on the bleachers alone. She refused to wear her gym clothes. They made her look uglier than she already was. She sat there, staring into darkness as her hood swallowed her vision up. Red. Red. Red. She was seeing..red? She pulled off her hood and opened her eyes to see everyone's lifeless bodies lying in pools of blood. Some students were decapitated, some throats were slit as well as their wrists. Others had gaping holes in their stomached that opened up to show their greasy and mushy organs. Evelyn looked at her hands. Bloody. But, she wasn't dead. She started to space out. Her mind flowed into a mixture of colours. She snapped. She was laughing now, menacingly. Laughing as loudly as the principal on the speaker in the morning.

And then she woke up.

She was in the nurses office, lying on a hard, white bed. Vision blurred and legs numb she rolled over to her side desperately. And there he was. Standing over her triumphantly. He was looking at her in a strange way. She opened her eyes wider than she ever had and finally, sat up. "Oh hey." He waved at her, still looking at her in that odd way. She stayed silent, in shock. "You fell of the bleachers and blacked out." He spoke to her, almost in a whisper. His words felt like he was poisoning her. She felt her head. BANG. Her head was bulging in aching pain. "OUCH!" She screamed in a somewhat demonic voice. He laughed.

"The nurse will be back soon. Hey, you should come over sometime. My family would love to meet you." He winked and walked out in complete and utter beauty. Braeden Linmaster, wants ME to come over? She hit her head to make sure she wasn't dreaming. Again, the bulging pain came and pulsated through her brain. She thought for a long moment. Why me?
