Maya just sat there. She didn't say anything, there was nothing she could say. The situation had been taken out of her hands and there wasn't a dang thing she could do about it. Josh on the other hand had a lot of things to say.

"How could you do this to me?" Allan and Amy didn't say anything. Then both just sat on Cory and Topanga's couches with stone cold expressions.

"Riley, Auggie go to your room." Topanga spoke up with her strict mother voice.

Auggie who didn't have the slightest clue as to what was going on just got up from beside his father on the love seat and ran to his room without speaking a word. Riley on thee other hand stood by her best friend as are refused to meet her mothers gaze.

"Riley. Your mother told you to do something." Cory told her. Riley went to protest so she could stay with Maya but Maya shook her head and leaned in to whisper in Riley's ear.

"It's okay. I'll be fine." Riley was still reluctant, but she let go on Maya's hand and walked to her room.

"Don't you think this is a little unfair? They're just children!" Cory snapped at his parents. Allen sighed as he got up from the couch io address the situation.

"Josh is twenty one and Maya is eighteen. They are both legal adults and in a few months when Maya graduates everything will take place." He told his family.

"You agreed to this?" Maya asked her parents who were sitting on the other side of Allen and Amy with guilty looks on their faces.

"We got a letter from the bank. We're going bankrupt and if something doesn't change soon we could be living on the streets. Amy and Allen agreed to merge our company's and give us shared ownership so that doesn't have to happen. This was their only catch." Shawn explained.

"I'm so sorry, baby girl. We didn't have a choice." Katy said as her voice broke. Maya shook her head. She couldn't believe this, her parents were putting all of this on her.

"No. I'm sorry but I can't marry Maya. I won't!" Josh exclaimed as he folded his arms across his chest. Maya rolled her eyes, she wasn't happy about this either but she didn't want her family to be living on the streets.

"Your mother and I are just doing what is best for business." Allen stated causing Josh to scoff.

"No you're not! You're wrecking our lives!" Josh yelled as he pointed to himself and Maya. Allen narrowed his eyes at his youngest son.

"Do you even realize what this could do for business!? If we merged our businesses together we could dominate all of the other businesses in Philadelphia! You and Maya taking over and running it together would make you two unstoppable! Business would skyrocket, we could hire more people who need jobs, we could open more offices in New York and Washington! It would be everything you ever dreamed of!" Allen told his son. Josh shook his head.

"No dad! That would be everything you've dreamed of! Okay fine, merge the two businesses together and Maya and I will work together in a professional matter! But I don't see the reason why we to marry each other for this to be done! There's no need for it!" Josh had a good point. Him and Maya didn't have to be together in a romantic way to make this merging work.

"Because a merging of two businesses is more powerful when you have a couple running it together instead of two individuals. You see Josh, when Shawn's father and I decided to start up our own businesses, we had a conversation. And in that conversation we both agreed that one day we wanted to hand down our businesses to our sons and that our sons would keep our businesses a family business. When Shawn came to us and asked us for help and we came up with the idea of merging the businesses, Shawn had one request. That when the time was right Maya be given a leadership role. So your mom and I decided that we would make sure this remained a family business." Josh shook his head, in one sense he kind of felt sick at the way his parents were talking.

"I can't believe this." He mumbled to himself as he ran a hand through his hair.

"We don't have to do it. We can refuse and the law won't make us." Maya said as she herself could feel anger rising up inside of her. Josh nodded his head at his parents, for the first time ever him and Maya were actually on the same page.

"Oh but Maya," Amy started out. "You wouldn't want to be responsible for Shawn and your mother to be out on the streets, do you?" Amy asked causing Maya to wide her eyes. Josh's breath got caught up in his throat, he wasn't a huge fan of Maya, but that was crossing a line.

"Mom!" Cory exclaimed. Him and Topanga were now glaring daggers at the four other adults on the couch.

Maya could not believe that Mrs. Matthews would say that to her. She had always looked up to Amy and she had done nothing but treat her like her own granddaughter. Now her respect for her had gone down, way down.

"Maya, please don't leave!" Katy spoke up as she watched her daughter get up from sitting on the floor and make her way to the front door.

"I need some air." She stated before opening the door and making her way to the elevators. Topanga got up from her seat to go after her but Josh stopped her.

"I'll go talk to her. After all, I'm the only one in that can relate to how she feels." He snapped at his parents before also making his way outside the apartment.

Josh and Maya did not get along, but right now they both just had their worlds rocked and they both needed some time away from their parents.

You're probably a little confused, so let's go back a few hours and refresh on how this all got started.

Hope y'all enjoyed the first chapter. Allen and Amy are going to be kind of like villains in the first part of this story, but at the story progresses I promise you that they'll be back to the loving parents and grandparents that most of us wish we have, haha.
