Chapter Six

Sawyer nods his head slowly, and reaches out his arms. I grab my keys, and limp towards him. I put my arm around his shoulders, and he grabs my waist. I let out a hiss when his hand clenches my skin; pulling at my stitches.

"Sorry! I'm sorry!" he exclaims pulling his hand away from my. I shake my head, and grit my teeth.

"It's fine, let's just get inside." He nods and we slowly make our way to the front door. When we reach the two steps I stop limping.

"Shit." I mutter; Sawyer looks around confused.

"What, what's wrong?" he asks. I bite my lip and lean on my left foot. Taking a deep breath I hop up onto the step, landing on my one foot. I wobble, and let out a pathetic whimper.

"I can help you up steps, you know." Sawyer puts his hands on my hips, holding me steady. He makes his way up the last two steps, and leans towards me. I put my hands on his shoulders as he helps lift me up to the next step. I sigh when pain doesn't shoot up my leg this time. He gets me up the last step, and I limp over to the door.

"Do you want me to go now?" Sawyer whispers behind me as I unlock the door. I smirk and open it.

"Well considering I still need to get upstairs, no. You can stay here for a while; if you'd like." I say slowly stepping into the house. Sawyer nods, and makes his way in behind me.

                "Where is your room?"

"Upstairs, It's gonna take me a while to get up them." I glare at the stairs in front of me.

"Couldn't you lay on a couch down here; it would be less work on your legs." I shake my head.

"The last person who was able to lie on that couch was my brother, and I don't feel like catching whatever disease he may have left there." Sawyer lets out a laugh, and I smile. I turn to the stairs and let out a long breath.

"Well, here goes nothing." I mutter as I take a slow step onto the first stair. I feel Sawyers hands lightly hold my waist as he goes up behind me.

"Thank you for helping, Sawyer." I whisper, trying to hold in a groan when I land too hard on my right leg.

"Of course I would help, although I do wonder why you asked the blind boy to help you." I chuckle, and step up another stair; halfway there.

"I don't know why I asked you of all people, but you were there; so I took advantage of the opportunity." I shrug, and take a deep breath. This is becoming too hard, they are just fucking stairs!

"How many more steps do we have?"

"About ten more steps to go."

"Damn." I let out a loud laugh.

"You know, I don't know if I like you swearing."
