"Proteomics explores the structure and function of cellular proteins" you read out of your biology book. Sitting in the far corner, away from everyone else you study for a big test coming up.
You focus on scenery beyond the window in front of you, when it begins to rain. Finding peace when the weather is like this, you relax and continue on with your reading.
Soon the clock hits 8 and you pack your things. Walking towards the exit, you sigh as the droplets still splash against the asphalt.
With the textbooks on your hands, you hover them over your head to cover from the rain.
With no luck, you drop the books back down as they barely cover any of the oncoming water.
You trudge through the rain with you head down and tighten the straps on your backpack. Looking down, you groan as you see you previously white shoes lose their cleanliness.
While debating on whether you should just hop into some random persons car, the rain stops. You look up and see an umbrella hovering over your head.
"Hi, it looked like you needed some coverage" you hear turning to the side and coming face to face with a boy.
"Hyu-Hyunjin?" you stutter as the schools heartthrob and your longtime crush stands beside you. "Thank you," you smile with a slight blush
"It's no problem" he returns the smile. "Oh! I also got you these," he says while reaching to his back pocket. He pulls out two plastic bags and waves them about.
"What are these for?" you question slightly confused.
"Oh, I saw your shoes were white so I brought some bags with me so that you can cover them up" he whispers as you see he gets sorta shy.
"And you just happened to have plastic bags with you?" you giggle intensifying his blush.
"I-I watched you as went to the library and then remembered that you didn't have an umbrella with you when it began to rain. When I was stepping o-outside my house, I saw your white shoes and r-ran back to get them " He stutters making his face just turn completely a dark shade of red.
Now it's your turn to blush as he confessed to watching you. Although you found it just a tiiiny bit weird, you found it more sweet making you smile.
You grab the plastic bags and put them over your shoes as he gently holds onto your shoulder to keep you steady.
"I'm sorry if it bothers you. I won't stare at you from afar. I prefer staring at you this close anyways and if you let me, I'll make sure you'll never have to walk in the rain alone again." He says suddenly gaining his confidence.
"I-I would like for you to be this close too. And walking in the rain is nice but not alone." you say turning back to look at him.
While looking into his eyes, you feel a soft hand wrap around your own and tightly hold yours. Although it's a simple act of skinship, a wave of warmth travels through your body, forgetting that you're drentched.
You look down at your intertwined hands but remember you never got to introduce yourself.
"I'm-"
"(Y/N). We're in the same class and we share a couple classes together." he cuts you off finishing your introduction.
"Oh, I never thought you would notice someone like me" you whisper turning away. "And not that I mind, but why are you holding my hand?"
"I saw that you were a bit nervous so I took your hand in mine to calm you down a bit" he tilts his head to side while smiling.
NO THIS MAKES MY HEART BEAT 10 TIMES FASTER HYUNJIN you mentally scream while looking wide eyed to the wet cement below you two.
"Hah, yeah it totally calms me down" you reply trying not to sound sarcastic.
"Or is your heart racing as fast as mine?" your heart practically bursts in your chest upon hearing him say these words.
"I'm pretty sure mine's beating faster" he moves your hand to his chest and presses it against him.
"I don't think so" you look at him shocked because his heart was really racing, ALMOST as fast as yours was.
"Wow, it is beating fast, but mine is definitely faster" you giggle, bringing your hand down.
"You live pretty far from the library. Do you also go walking to school?" he questions while he begins to swing his hand while holding yours still.
"Actually yeah, we're pretty close now but I do walk to school most of the time"
"Ooh and by what time do you usually leave?" Hyunjin questions.
"Usually by seven forty-five I'm ready and heading over to school. Why do you ask?" you question in return.
"Just wondering so that I know what time to be here" he smirks.
"You don't have to! It's a pretty long walk so I wouldn't want you to get tired." you frantically try to explain you can walk on your own.
"I'd like to walk with you and it's alright that it's a long walk. I'll get more time to spend with you."
You stop walking after he finishes speaking because now you both arrived at the front of your house.
"Thank you for walking me home and for covering me from the rain." you say looking for your house keys
"You're welcome! I'll see you tomorrow then." he says walking you up to your door.
You step into your home after saying goodbye to Hyunjin and anticipate for the mornings when you walk side by side with him.

Sorry for the lack of updates as well, I know I said I would try and update more but school has me on a leash and it's hard to get anything done.
