Chapter 1
I knew what I was going to do was not conventional. But I wasn’t going to let years of hard work go to waste. I wasn’t pretty, I wasn’t thin, for crying out loud the only good thing about me was my sense of humour and book smarts.
“Miss Vivian Banks?” Pulling me out of my thoughts, I looked up at Dr. Stone, “Are you sure you’re ready?”
Looking down at the hospital gown adorning my body, I replied, “It’s too late to back down now anyway.”
Seeing my eyes of determination, he mutely nodded to the nurse who I hadn’t noticed entered the room and curtly commanded, “tell them to prepare OR 1, and have caffeine ready. It’s going to be a long day if Miss Banks wish to do so much so quickly.”
Looking back at me he said, “You do realise that you may not survive these operations?”
I Looked down at my nails that had been manicured for the first time in my life for my birthday just days before and looked back at him. “I want to do this and I paid you enough didn’t I? Besides, you don’t want to loose your reputation as the best and most discrete plastic surgeon do you?” He grimly nodded and looked anxiously at the door before returning his eyes back to me.
Suddenly, the nurse popped her cheery face into the doorway and said to Dr. Stone, “We’re ready for you.”
Everyone after that seems a haze to me. All the same white walls passed me as I was wheeled into the operation room on my hard hospital like bed. Hospital smell, hospital white and even hospital like fake smiles. I was glad that I didn’t have to awake to endure it for much longer as they covered my face with a mask as I slowly faded out of consciousness.
