" I have no living family now, Mr. Winchester. My parents were both only children and my grandparents are dead... There's no family friends or great aunts or uncles either..." Kayla said in such a soft tone that John almost missed it.

John stopped packing as he turned to look at the girl again, noticing the tears forming in her mismatched eyes.

" John Winchester you old softy.. you're going to regret this later." John muttered to himself before sighing.

" You can come with us..." John said, loud enough for her to hear as he returned to packing.

Now

Three months later.

" Keep up, Winchester. You'll never be able to outrun a werewolf at this pace." Kayla called over her shoulder as she leapt over a fallen log and continued to run through the trees, not waiting for the eldest Winchester to keep up as she ran with Sam on her back.

" Slow down! It's not a race!" Dean yelled as he struggled to keep up, Angelina Singer (Bobby Singer's only daughter) was on his back, being a little younger than Sam, Angelina was smaller than Sam and weighed very little which meant Dean had the upper hand...except Kayla was much faster.

" It is now!" Kayla shouted back with a small laugh as she finally arrived in the clearing in the backwoods of the Singer property.

" Fine...fine...you win... But you cheated." Dean said after he finally caught up, his struggling to catch his breath, Angelina giggling as she jumped down.

" You're not wrong." Kayla laughed as she too struggled to regain her breathing.

Sam slipped off of her back and let out a small giggle as he poked Dean's cheek.

" You jus got beat by a girl." Sam teased with a smile.

" Hey. Kayla doesn't count as a girl, she's practically a guy." Dean argued with an annoyed look.

" I'm a pretty guy, then." Kayla rolled her eyes as she sat down on a stump, taking a water bottle out of her backpack.

" Whatever... This tree fort isn't going to build itself, so let's get to work." Dean said as he approached the tree that they'd picked to make into their hideout.

" Right! Let's do it." Kayla agreed as she stood up and began to gather the tools that they'd borrowed from Bobby.

" I help?" Sam asked, giving her his adorable puppy eyes.

" Yep! You're the foreman, you tell us what to do and make sure we're working hard enough." Kayla said seriously.

Sam gave a serious nod as he saluted Kayla and took a seat on the stump, watching intently.

Kayla gave a small laugh and walked over to where Dean was already working on building the treehouse.

" Angelina, you help Sam, okay?" Kayla said to the little girl who nodded intently.

The two spent the rest of the day working on the treehouse that they had designed the night beforehand, Sammy and Angelina eventually falling asleep about halfway through the day.

The sun began to set in the distance, making Kayla and Dean mutually agree that it was time to call it quits.

" We can finish tomorrow...and maybe I can finally find some rope to attach..." Dean said quietly as he picked Sam up and began to carry him towards Bobby's house with Kayla following, carrying a sleeping Angelina.
