"NO! Please no more!" Gracie yelled in pain as her mom blisters her arms with a cigarette. "Please stop!" "Shut up and take it like a big girl." Her mom exclaimed, which such an evil grin. The door opens very loudly Gracie and her mom both look up. "What the hell are you doing?" Gracie's dad says when he walks in the front door after work. "Why the heck are you doing that without me?" He said with such an evil face she passed out. When Gracie woke up, she was in a very dark place. The attic. She always wondered what it looked like in there. Now she knows. As she looks around and crosses her arms, she can't help but feel the burn of the many cigarettes her mom and dad placed on her and she was passed out. As she looks around she sees so many objects from when she was a baby, it brought back many memories. She stands and walks around the attic, rubbing her fingers along the dusty wood panel walls. There is one small window she notices. So many only a chipmunk can get out of it. The view is so pretty she thinks. The bright blue sky with a big yellow sun and all the pretty black birds flying around and around. As she is mesmerized but the beautiful sight, she can head the attic door becoming unlocked and is slung open. It was her mom. Her mom exclaimed, "I didn't know if you'd rather have, fish or shrimp. So I just didn't bring it." Her mom brought her a few pieces of cold toasted toast and a half empty water bottle. Her mom barley could stand up straight because she was so high and weak from all the drugs she took. Gracie grabbed the food and drink from her mom and her mom turns around and is waking towards the door, but runs towards Gracie and slaps her across the face and pulls what little hair she has. She walks out and shuts the door behind her without locking it. Gracie's threw the things in her hands across the room and begins to sit on the cold dusty wood flooring and starts to sing to herself. It's been hours later, Gracie gets up and she is so weak, but she makes it to the window and starts to gaze out into the now sunset sky. She knew she had only a few hours until her mom will lock her in her bedroom until morning for school. Gracie always stayed in her room. All day and night. Her mom decided that Gracie needed to stay in the attic until bedtime. Than she would lock the door to the room. Gracie's dad Ron was a drunk and a druggie, but he didn't beat her as much as her mom. The woman all girls should look up to, her mom. Gracie now heads her mom stumbling up the stairs to get her. The door opens and her mom looks like she has not slept in months. She try's to point Gracie out of the room, but her hands can't stop shaking her didn't do it. Gracie runs right past her mom and down the stairs to her room. Her mom comes and locks the door after it took her many minutes to get down the stairs. Gracie's lays down on her worn-out princess blanket with many burn holes. She begins the look up at the ceiling and falls into a deep sleep she wishes she would never wake up from. When she wakes up, It's school time for her. The only thing she likes and lives for.
