"Can you believe we're graduating now?" Jimin smiled widely as he mumbled to you with excitement. You giggled, nodding your head in agreement as your hands were still glued to his head.
"I know right? Now hold still, this isn't easy you know," you chuckled, attempting to fix the cap on his head as best you could. While you were busy with fixing his cap, Jimin reached his arms forward to fix the gold stole on your gown, neatly folding it into place before moving on to fix his own.
"Man, these things are a hassle," Jimin groaned, now flattening out the small wrinkle that has been bothering him for the past hour.
"Guys!" an excited voice called out from behind. You ignored the voice for a second, too engrossed in getting Jimin's cap on perfectly. Finally arranging the cap correctly, you and Jimin turned around to see your friends slowly making their way over to you. You waved to them in return, a wide smile plastered on your face as you felt a sense of proudness washing over you.
"Look at Mr and Mrs valedictorians!" Lisa teased, hurrying over to give you a big hug. Ignoring her teasing tone, you wrapped your arms warmly around her in return. As you pulled away, you moved onto the next person in your group of friends.
"Man, I'm going to miss you all!" Taemin sighed, a miniscule tear forming in the corner of his eye as he dramatically wiped it away. Confused by his exaggerated words, Krystal turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Wait, why are you saying that you're going to miss us? We're all going to the same university," Krystal remarked, pointing at everyone in the group. You let out a small giggle as you looked at everyone, smiling in excitement as you all promised in the beginning, and got into the same university together. You're majoring in law, Jimin is majoring in business to run his family business in the future, Dean and Lisa are both majoring in health sciences, along with the rest of your friends majoring in the arts. Your eyes then landed on Yoongi, the feeling of excitement now being replaced with a small wave of sadness.
"I'm going to miss you guys," Yoongi sighed in sadness. You all gathered in for one last group hug, wishing Yoongi luck for the future. Yoongi wished he could attend the same university with the rest of you, however, he got accepted into a special program back home in Japan. Jimin assured him that he should take it, and not to miss out on this special opportunity.
"You'll visit us every so often right?" Jimin joked, bumping an elbow into Yoongi's chest. Rolling his eyes with a smile, Yoongi wrapped an arm around Jimin in return.
"Only if you'll come to see me in Japan."
As all of the students finished their walk on the stage for their diplomas, along with the awards, the principal then walked up to the center of the stage with the microphone in her hands. Too nervous to listen to the principal giving her short speech, you were busy fiddling with your fingers until you felt a hand securely hold onto yours, stopping your fiddling movements. You looked up at Jimin, only to see him giving you a reassuring smile as he gave your hand a gentle squeeze.
"Don't be nervous, you're going to do just fine" Jimin whispered lowly, wrapping an arm around your body as he hugged you in attempts to calm your nerves. You wrapped an arm around him in return, inhaling a shaky breath before releasing it as you slowly feel your confidence rising.
"And now, I'd like to present to you, Kim Y/N and Park Jimin! This year's class presidents and valedictorians!" the principal announced to the audience. With the loud applause and cheers echoing in the venue, Jimin turned around and extended a hand towards you.
"Shall we?" At the sight of his bright smile, you couldn't help but smile in return, taking his hand into yours.
"We shall" you replied, the both of you now emerging from the backstage and to the front and centre. As you both made your way to the stage, the audience cheered even louder in excitement and glee. Reaching to the front, you both made your way to the microphones, waiting for the audience to quiet down. Once the audience was quiet, Jimin looked over at you, smiling as he saw you nod towards him. With your approval, he then took the opportunity to start off the speech.
"Thank you, parents, friends, and family for being here today. Me and Y/N are more than happy to be not only this year's presidents but also the valedictorians!" he began, smiling out to the audience as they applauded to the both of you. He moved back to the microphone to continue.
"Now, these past 4 years have been a journey. From making new friends to making new memories, having crazy food fights in the cafeteria, reuniting with old friends, and even meeting your first love," he glanced over to you, smiling at the last part of his sentence.
"But that's what high school is about. It's about finding who you are and discovering your interests along the way. The other stuff like making new memories is just a wonderful bonus." He then pulled away from the microphone and hinted for you to take over. You walked over to the microphone, now continuing off from his speech.
"And just like Jimin said, we've had an awesome year. To all of the families in the audience, I'm sure you're all very proud of us," you paused, glancing over in the audience as you saw your parents now beginning to tear up.
"We're now marking the end of a chapter, and opening up the next as we take the next step in our lives. Whether that be, college, university, or in the workplace. We all started together, and we're now ending it together to start the true journey of our lives" you finished as you glanced over to see Jimin walking up to stand beside you, wrapping an arm around your waist.
"And now, will everyone please move their tassels from the right to the left," the principal announced. You and Jimin both reached up to move your tassel from the right to the left, ready to move onto a new chapter in your lives.
"Congrats seniors, you've now all graduated!" the principle cheered as a loud sound erupted, red, gold and white confetti now flying in the air. The last thing you saw was a sea of red and gold as everyone excitedly threw their caps up high in the air of confetti for good luck. Amongst the crazy wave of caps and confetti flying in the air, you felt a pair of arms turning you around before a pair of lips landed on yours. Feeling a blush creeping onto your face, you pulled away to see Jimin smiling down at you, his face now beginning to redden as well. He rested his forehead on yours, closing his eyes in content as he brought his voice low to a whisper.
